In this trial involving heterogeneous groups of patients with stroke of recent onset or progression of stroke symptoms and nonoccluded large and medium-sized cerebral vessels, intravenous tirofiban was associated with a greater likelihood of an excellent outcome than low-dose aspirin. Incidences of intracranial hemorrhages were low but slightly higher with tirofiban.

Tthis study showed that female sex and a history of hypertension might be associated with unsuccessful recanalization in MT for anterior circulation acute ischemic stroke. Further prospective studies are needed to fully evaluate predictors of recanalization, which may help to develop improved thrombectomy strategies.

The management of intracranial atherosclerotic disease (ICAD) has been evolving with advanced imaging, refinements of best medical treatment, and the development of endovascular options. There has been a significant increase in the use of endovascular therapy for symptomatic ICAD in the USA over the past 6 years. The rationale for this review is to update neurointerventionalists in these areas so that evidence-based decisions can be considered when counseling potential patients regarding their risks, benefits, and potential complications.

HEAL Technology: The next generation of antithrombogenic coating. The HEAL Technology mimics the final step of natural haemostasis and thus the conversion of fibrinogen (by thrombin) to fibrin. The controlled growth process results in a thin and fully polymerised network of fibrin with additional covalently bound heparin molecules.

Statistics show that intracranial atherosclerotic disease (ICAD) accounts for a high proportion of ischemic strokes, especially in the yellow population where about 30% to 50% of ischemic stroke cases are associated with it. In recent years, the use of various types of balloons and stents in ICAD has led to better revascularization rates and lower stenosis rates. However, due to the individual characteristics of balloon and stent interventions, some complications and "restenosis" still exist, limiting the widespread use of ICAD interventions. Some studies have shown that drug balloons and drug stents are relatively "complementary" in the choice of ICAD interventions, giving physicians more options in the choice of devices for different lesions.

Fluid Biomed is commercializing the first polymer-based brain stent to cure aneurysms. Brain aneurysms afflict up to 5% of people and can lead to devastating stroke. The company team of neurosurgeons, scientists, and engineers has designed the world’s first hybrid polymer-metal flow-diverting stent to cure this deadly disease. Uniquely constructed of dissolving polymer and metal, this innovative medical device provides a scaffold to allow better healing and visualization of blood vessels.

Fluid Biotech, founded in 2012 by two Canadian neurosurgeons, is developing an implantable, absorbable dense mesh scaffold to address the shortcomings of traditional dense mesh scaffolds. ReSolv is a self-expanding dense mesh scaffold that is a blend of absorbable polymers and metals. The unique use of polymers in ReSolv allows for better healing of vessels while minimizing interference with radiological examinations. 种可吸收聚合物和金属混合的自膨胀密网支架。 ReSolv具备高度灵活,可导航至大脑细小的血管。ReSolv中独特使用聚合物可以更好地愈合血管,同时最大限度地减少对放射检查的干扰。

Ischemic stroke despite direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) is increasingly common and portends high risk of subsequent ischemic stroke. Efficacy and safety of antithrombotic regimens following the condition are unclear. We aimed to compare the outcomes of patients with ischemic stroke despite DOAC with and without an alternative antithrombotic regimen, and determine the risk factors of recurrent ischemic stroke while on anticoagulation.

Our study provides the first comprehensive summary for the last thirty years and the prediction of the global burden of IS and its attributable risk factors until 2030, providing detailed statistics for decision-making on the prevention and control of IS globally. Inadequate control of the seven risk factors would lead to an increased disease burden of IS in young people, especially in low SDI regions. Our study identifies high-risk populations and helps public health professionals develop targeted preventive strategies to reduce the global disease burden of ischemic stroke.

While a number of companies in the neurovascular space have become increasingly focused on the ‘first-pass effect’ in mechanical thrombectomy treatments, many major clinical trials assessing the safety and efficacy of the technique still favour a ‘rule-of-three’ paradigm. And—although it is now broadly accepted that the risk of a poorer clinical outcome grows with every additional clot-retrieval attempt—the exact relationship between the two is still highly debatable.
