10 principios para evaluar en Entornos Virtuales

10 principios para evaluar en Entornos Virtuales | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

Toward ethical and equitable AI in Higher Education

Toward ethical and equitable AI in Higher Education | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

As the higher education sector grapples with the “new normal” of the post-pandemic, the structural issues of the recent past not only remain problematic but have been exacerbated by COVID-related disruptions throughout the education pipeline. Navigating the complexity of higher education has always been challenging for students, particularly at underresourced institutions that lack the advising capacity to provide guidance and support. Areas such as transfer and financial aid are notorious black boxes of complexity, where students lacking financial resources and “college knowledge” are too often left on their own to make decisions that may prove costly and damaging down the line.

Humanizing Online Education through technology and community

Humanizing Online Education through technology and community | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

During the extended pandemic, traditional colleges and universities have rushed to move programs online by simply transferring an existing degree to a digital format. In fact, Quality Matters found that 57% of higher education leaders surveyed agreed that the pandemic had positively re-prioritized online learning at their institution. This is not surprising considering 70% of the US workforce has been working remotely. Some institutions of higher education have been more successful than others in making the digital leap. One big difference between those who succeed and those who fail? How an institution deploys human resources to create a learner-centric experience.

Employees are ready for work in the Metaverse but sceptical about ability of firms to deliver

Employees are ready for work in the Metaverse but sceptical about ability of firms to deliver | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

Just as businesses are starting to find their groove with hybrid working, the workplace has begun to evolve again with the emergence of the metaverse. New research from Lenovo claims that close to half of employees (44 percent) are willing to work in the metaverse and believe that it can deliver benefits like productivity to the workplace. The metaverse is primarily defined as a shared digital space with digital representations of people, places, and objects. In the future, the metaverse can be a highly immersive extension of the physical world, with its rich user interface. At the enterprise level, this opens up possibilities for businesses to create a more viable, interactive workplace.

However, there is skepticism on whether companies have the capabilities to pull it off. Two in five (43 percent) respondents believe their employers do not, or probably do not have the knowledge or expertise to enable them to work in the metaverse of the future.

Improve learning with Cognitive Science

Improve learning with Cognitive Science | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

In essence, cognitive science is the study of thought, learning and memory. It draws together neuroscience, anthropology and computational modelling to understand how the mind works: how it responds to stimuli, manages tasks, makes decisions and creates memories. It can help us discern how learning and recall happen, and how to improve them. Through its findings, cognitive science also challenges some common aspects of teaching practice, and suggests new paths to more effective education. Let’s look at some ways it can help your teaching.

The Rapidly Changing Global Landscape of Microcredentials

The Rapidly Changing Global Landscape of Microcredentials | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it
Microcredentials is a word that can mean different things to different people. Sometimes the word is hyphenated (micro-credentials) and sometimes not. Only a year ago it was not used widely in the U.S. or abroad. But things have changed dramatically in the world of credentialing. The word microcredentials is now more consistently used and recognized on a global scale. The University of Buffalo, for instance, recently created an Office of Micro-Credentials.

Defined briefly, microcredentials are credentials that are not degrees and are shorter in length than two-year programs. They are growing in numbers worldwide, driven by the COVID-19 pandemic, a changing economy, and rising costs of education and training programs.

PedTech: Voices to listen to in 2022 | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

The availability of technology is a necessary part of removing the inequalities of living in a digital world. But access alone will not make a sufficient difference to the lives of those using it.

For learning to be successful, there needs to be meaningful two-way interactions between students and teachers. Part of this is about improving how we listen to students – listening to what they want to tell us and using that information to identify not just what they know, but why and how they know it.

As TED prize winner and international thought leader Professor Sugata Mitra says: “In a world where a child can learn anything using the smartphone in their pocket, we should not be testing them on their ability to recall information but their ability to find something out, comprehend, and communicate their findings.”

University is a rite of passage during which young people discover who they are, their values, and their opinions. It also provides them with an opportunity to establish important friends, mentors and relationships, many of which they carry through the rest of their lives.

As more older learners begin choosing a school that’s best for them, it’s critical for institutions to create a personalized experience to stand out to prospective students.

Each student is unique, and wants to feel like more than a number. When they see that an institution cares about them, they’re more likely to stay with them throughout their lifelong learning journey. As there’s more noise in the digital space, institutions need to deliver on the personalized experience students demand. In this interview, Richard Hudnett discusses what’s on the mind of prospective learners, how to market to these learners, and how personalization is the key to meeting the needs of the modern learner.

Educación inclusiva: su verdad

Educación inclusiva: su verdad | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

Metaverse and EdTech: How do they work together? | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

After a few lessons about the solar system, it’s time for the main event. Three students are brave enough to go first. Their teacher helps them put on the goggles and gloves with some minor adjustments. The blank monitor to the side of the classroom switches on and the rest of the class sees what the three students see through their goggles: Saturn floating before them, slowly revolving.

The class gets excited and starts urging them to try to touch the rings. Through the gloves, the three students feel the vibrations of the rocks in the rings hitting their fingers. One of the students flies off towards the rings. On the monitor, the class sees a rock as big as a house zoom by their classmate.

Por lo tanto, buena parte del éxito en el proceso de educativo dependerá del tiempo y dedicación que el estudiante le dedique a sus cursos.

For higher education to transform, it needs to first consider its students and their needs, and begin to adopt a student-centric approach. With student centricity comes the delivery of customer service that meets these needs, and to get there, staff must have the right systems in place to execute this vision. Institutions need to break down their traditional structures to offer more accessibility and flexibility. In this interview, Tatum Thomas discusses how short-term credentials fit into the student-centric transformation for higher ed, what’s expected from the modern learner and how institutions can execute this vision.

A better way to do Online Learning

A better way to do Online Learning | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

When the bell rang to mark the start of the class period, there was no call to attention, no prodding students to get out their materials and start working, no performative showmanship to captivate adolescent minds, and no heavy-handed discipline. Students came into the room, took out their notebooks and laptops, and started doing math. As they worked, Farah floated around the room: checking in, telling jokes, answering questions, offering help, and giving advice as needed.

A “self-driving” classroom is remarkable in its own right, but as a former middle school teacher myself, I was struck by what happened about 10 minutes past the bell. A student came in late with a hoodie over her head and her backpack clutched to her chest. Avoiding all eye contact, she went straight to the back of the room, sat down at a vacant table facing a wall, and put her head down on her bag.

The four biggest EdTech trends to look out for in 2022

The four biggest EdTech trends to look out for in 2022 | Edumorfosis.it | Scoop.it

To say that the pandemic has been disruptive to education is an understatement. Understandably, two years ago when the UK entered its first national lockdown, the discussion was mostly focused on continuing education despite the global crisis. Yet the lessons from 2020 helped me as an edtech expert and teachers in general to make better decisions in 2021. One of these decisions is being prepared for different scenarios and being ready to switch between them more fluently.

Now that we’re approaching the new year with the threat of the latest Omicron variant, it is clear we’re not out of the woods yet. Potential school closures and remote learning may be a likely scenario, which is why it’s important to take our lockdown learnings forward and put contingency plans in place. We’ve seen that going back to completely “normal” doesn’t just leave schools in a vulnerable position. It also doesn’t help students who are more engaged with the help of and prefer technology.
