User-generated content is the foundation of social media. Smart brands that understand the value of this content can turn it into an influential tool for marketing and a vehicle for driving sales. However, there are some real challenges associated with UGC, including copyright violations and ensuring that user content is on brand.

As a consumer I’m looking for a clear path to finding your entire body of work and as someone who writes about art I am on a steady search for something new. A new artist. A new design. A new take on an old thing. The art directors I know do the same – they scour Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and shops like Redbubble in search of new artists. We want to find you.
The following list of tips is meant to help you be found as many practical ways as possible. I’m looking at this from my own personal perspective as a consumer and someone who spends hours a day looking for new work. These are just some of the ways I’ve noticed that help me like, share, buy, and connect with artists and the work they make

New York Times CEO Mark Thompson did not mince words Tuesday when talking about ad blocking, which has been causing more than a few headaches for publishers. During a keynote discussion at Social Media Week in New York, Thompson compared using ad blockers to stealing a print issue from a newsstand.

"Needing to have reality confirmed and experience enhanced by photographs is an aesthetic consumerism to which everyone is now addicted."
Decades before social media, Sontag (b. Jan 16, 1933) wrote brilliantly about our "aesthetic consumerism" of images

The figure/ground illusion shows how we literally cannot see two different things in the same set of stimuli. This feature of psychology generalizes to how we see people.
...One of the interesting things about human social psychology is that, in many regards, we tend to over-simplify stimuli in our social worlds - seeing things that could be conceptualized as complex and nuanced as simple and categorical. For instance, in many ways, we divide people into the category of “on my team” or “not” per the powerful ingroup/outgroup phenomenon (Billig & Tajfel, 1973). Quickly and automatically, people divide folks into these categories - and research has shown that we treat people very differently if they are in our (psychologically constructed) group or not.
Most online influencers say they accept monetary compensation from marketers in exchange for posting about a brand, according to a recent report from GroupHigh.

Despite the rise of websites and search engines as alternatives to „classic“ news sources such as television, newspapers and the radio, the TV is still the news source most people around the globe rely on. That’s the result of a global survey of more than 30,000 online consumers across 60 countries conducted by Nielsen.
When asked where they get the news, 53 percent of the global respondents named the television as one of their go-to sources. Search engines and social media sites were the second and third most popular choices with newspapers relegated to fourth place.
Not surprisingly, news preferences vary across different generations. However, TV is the most popular choice for Millennials (21-34), Gen Xers (34-49), Baby Boomers (50-64) and the Silent Generation (65+) with Generation Z respondents (15-20 years old) the only ones favoring social media sites over TV for news consumption....

Retention is often assumed if a customer enjoys using the product but how many brands consider the after care service? I know, for example if I’m looking to renew my Sky subscription, a poor communication experience with their Contact Centre or lack of relevant, appealing renewal promotions in their retention campaign to me will significantly impact my judgement as to whether I remain a loyal customer or shop elsewhere.
The customer experience your brand delivers can also be integral to the efficiencies of your business. Do you need to send three letters followed by an email, a telephone call with six ‘press XX’ options and a follow-on direct mail piece to every customer that needs to renew their Sky subscription? More than likely not.

Residents of Hong Kong are the ecommerce champions of the world. By far.
The average consumer spends $2,868 per year online shopping in Hong Kong, according to data from the German statistics firm Statista. The country next in line for the most online spending is Norway, with an average of $2,448 spent per consumer. And Israel rounds has the third most online spending per capita with $2,171 spent per year.
To be sure, online spending correlates with a country’s wealth. And only countries that are reasonably well connected to the Internet are included in this research.

Taylor Swift is the proud owner of many enviable items: Gorgeous kitties, legs that go on forever, seven Grammy’s and err, two porn site domains. The pop goddess has reportedly purchased the rights to two rather questionable websites, TaylorSwift.porn and TaylorSwift.adult so that no one else out there can make money off her name, or porn.
