Influenza vaccination programs are often debated in terms of cost—but what does the data actually show?
A cost–benefit modeling study of U.S. influenza immunization strategies provides a clear answer: well-designed vaccination programs can generate net economic savings across employers, employees, and society.
💡 Key insights: • Vaccination programs become cost-beneficial for employers when >37% of vaccinations occur in convenient, non-traditional settings (e.g., pharmacies) • A baseline scenario with 50% uptake in these settings already delivers net savings • Fully pharmacy-based programs significantly improve returns • Targeted strategies—focusing on high-risk individuals or seniors—yield the highest economic benefit • Both universal and targeted approaches can create value when properly designed

We are pleased to share our latest publication on nationwide measles vaccine acceptance in Cameroon.
🔗 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/egNfzRVQ
Our findings show that vaccine acceptance is high. However, translating this willingness into consistent coverage remains a challenge, as vaccination coverage remains suboptimal and measles transmission persists.
Addressing these gaps will require sustained and coordinated efforts to ensure that high levels of willingness are translated into equitable coverage across all populations.
As Cameroon advances toward measles elimination, continued focus on closing this “acceptance–coverage gap” will be key to sustaining progress.

Nurse-led vaccination 💉🥹
Such an exciting moment for our team as we step into our first year as a nurse-led vaccination clinic 💛
A huge milestone for nursing in general and one I’m incredibly proud of. Expanding access to vaccination through nurse-led care is exactly the kind of innovation healthcare need - particularly across regional areas.
Here’s to a year of improving access, supporting our patients, and continuing to show what nurses can achieve when we work to full scope ✨

Really pleased to share that our paper on giant cell arteritis following COVID-19 vaccination is now published in Drug Safety. 🎉
Prompted by a consumer concern, we analysed over 2,700 cases across Australian primary care and hospital data and found no increased risk of GCA following COVID-19 vaccination.
This work highlights the importance of embedding consumer voice into surveillance systems, strengthening pathways for consumer-reported signals, and communicating findings transparently to support confidence in public health decision-making.
We’ve also been accepted to present this work at CDIC 2026. If you’d like to know more, come along to Session 6E, Implementing Immunisation.

📣 Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine eligibility expanded in England
🗓️ Commencing the 1st of April 2026, the NHS has expanded eligibility for the RSV vaccine to now include: ➡️ Adults aged 80 and over (with no upper age limit) ➡️ Residents in care homes for older adults
Previously, the vaccine was routinely offered to adults aged 75 to 79 and individuals who are at least 28 weeks pregnant. This expansion significantly increases protection for those most at risk of severe respiratory illness.
🦠 What exactly is RSV? Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a virus which causes respiratory infections, mostly affecting the lungs and airways. It is one of the most common causes of colds and coughs in winter in the UK. It results in hundreds of thousands of infections each year.
Most RSV infections lead to mild illness, but infants under one year of age, and the elderly, have the highest risk of experiencing more severe illness.
🏥 NHS England estimates that around 530,000 adults aged 80+ in the South East are now eligible to receive the RSV vaccine, with millions more across England following the expansion of the vaccination programme.
The RSV vaccine is free on the NHS and can be booked through your GP or healthcare provider.

Antivaccine activists: A. don’t want children to have access to vaccines. Apparently, they think poor kids deserve tetanus and polio. B. Want us to pay billions for disease outbreaks, rather than much less for vaccines. C. Cut the branch unvaccinated kids sit on: herd immunity.
When they say they’re not looking to take vaccines from others, when they claim it’s about choice, they’re lying.
Tweet from CHD says: “💰 Did you know your tax dollars pay for vaccines?
Aaron Siri explains that billions in federal funds are sent directly to pharmaceutical companies every year to purchase vaccines.
“There’s something called the Vaccines for Children Program. It’s a federal government program that guarantees payments for the pharma companies for every dose of vaccine.”
“About half of all vaccines in America are paid for by that program, by our federal tax dollars.”
“I believe it would be about $8 billion this year going to pharma companies just to pay them for vaccines.””

South Carolina is experiencing its worst outbreak of Measles in over 35 years, with nearly 1,000 reported cases and vaccination rates falling below herd immunity levels.
Infants too young to receive the MMR vaccine are among the most vulnerable, prompting doctors to consider early doses in high-risk situations.
Health experts warn that declining vaccination rates and ongoing policy debates could worsen the crisis, increasing the risk of further outbreaks and weakening public confidence in immunization programs.

The biggest mistake in science is the misinformation of individuals trying to link elements that have nothing in common. Asbestos, COVID vaccines ? #philipmcmillan is showing us here that his only worthy contribution to science should be his silence… And that LinkedIn should ban Vejon Health Ltd for pushing misinformation/ disinformation and lies. Even as India allocates thousands of crores annually for child vaccination, #RTI data shows that a significant share of the funds remains #unspent, raising questions over implementation in one of the country’s largest public health programmes.
The National #Immunisation Programme, which provides free vaccines against multiple diseases including polio, measles and hepatitis B, is aimed at protecting millions of children across the country every year.
Under the programme, allocations have risen to over ₹3,400 crore in 2025-26, but spending has consistently lagged behind.
In 2023-24, about ₹2,250 crore was utilised against ₹3,232 crore approved, while in 2024-25, expenditure dropped to around ₹1,971 crore against ₹3,186 crore sanctioned.

Dear colleagues, I enjoyed reading this new article in JAMA Oncology confirming the impact of HPV vaccination in males.
A large-scale study published in April 2026 provides clear evidence that the 9-valent HPV vaccine significantly reduces the risk of HPV-related cancers in men.
Key findings: • Over 615,000 vaccinated males were compared with more than 2.2 million unvaccinated individuals • Vaccination was associated with a ~46% reduction in HPV-related cancers (HR 0.54) • The protective effect was consistent across age groups (9–14 and 15–26 years) • Affected cancers include head and neck, anal, penile, and esophageal cancers
This is particularly relevant as HPV-positive oropharyngeal cancer in men is now surpassing cervical cancer incidence in women in many developed countries.
We need to move decisively toward gender-neutral HPV vaccination strategies as vaccinating boys is no longer an issue of herd immunity. It directly prevent cancer.

WE COULD ELIMINATE CERVICAL CANCER—YET WE’RE NOT MOVING FAST ENOUGH.
HPV vaccination can prevent ~82% of HPV-related cancers, and now we have compelling evidence that A SINGLE DOSE CAN ACHIEVE UP TO 98% PROTECTION. The science is no longer the barrier. The World Health Organization has already set a clear roadmap: the 90–70–90 targets by 2030. If implemented, we could prevent >74 million cases and >62 million deaths. So the real question is no longer can we eliminate cervical cancer? It’s: why haven’t we done it yet? Policy inertia, inequity, and slow implementation are now the true obstacles. In this month’s Best Practice from Vaccines Beat, we break down what must change—urgently. 📩 Subscribe (free) and join the conversation.
