Any historian who has been to an archive in the digital era remembers each day as a race to capture as much material as possible in a limited time. The key to keeping this process organized is to keep track of archival location and to file your images with precise location data as soon as possible. Among all the programs that help manage images, I prefer Zotero, a free and open-source research tool available from the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media at George Mason University. Zotero is best known for capturing bibliographical data, but can also help with note taking and managing research files. While other programs are better for one of these tasks—just notes, or just article PDFs, or just images—Zotero excels as a Swiss Army knife, do-it-almost-all research tool. Here, I will describe how to use Zotero in conjunction with a camera (in my case, an iPhone), image import software (in my case, iPhoto), and a PDF editor

Comme les navigateurs, Scrivener est doté d'un bouton back (retour) et forward (suivant) qui permet directement de retourner sur la précédente page - là où on travaillait encore il y a quelques minutes. Cela correspond bien au mode d'écriture non linéaire.

The layout is where you’ve placed everything and how you’ve adjusted the screen you’re working in. For example, making the window size bigger or changing the visibility of the binder. Scrivener is the world's best software for writers.....However, I have often thought that Scrivener is so well designed that it could serve other purposes. One of these is as a project management center.

Although I use Scrivener s Mac version, I ve had several people ask me questions about the Window s version. I do have it installed in my Asus notebook, but truth be told it takes a long time to boot and every program I open causes it to freeze and crash.

" Depuis l’écriture jusqu’à la mise en marché, j’ai tout effectué seul. Alors que mon premier ouvrage, paru en 2011 fut très difficile à formater (surtout pour Kindle), fort heureusement, il existe aujourd’hui des outils qui facilitenténormément la vie.J’utilise Scrivener pour écrire et, outre ses qualités d’outil d’écriture, il présente le gros avantage de compiler très facilement au format .epub ou .mobi.Il y a quelques paramétrages de base qui peuvent être pénibles (numérotation et/ou titre des chapitres, préservation de l’alignement du texte), mais une fois cesécueils passés, on compile extrêmement rapidement et efficacement.J’utilise ensuite Calibre pour envoyer par email mon manuscrit sur mon kindle et vérifier ainsi le formatage."
