What the AI era owes you

"No one is going to save your career from AI. That’s the most useful thing anyone can tell you about your job, and the sooner you believe it, the sooner you start building a version of yourself the next economy will actually need."

EDTECH@UTRGV's insight:

"The new jobs will come, the way they always have. The real question is who gets you from the job you have now to the one that doesn’t exist yet."

Artificial Intelligence is playing a significant role in both cyber defense and cybercrime. Security professionals are leveraging AI-powered tools to detect threats faster, analyze suspicious activities, and automate incident responses. At the same time, cybercriminals are using AI to create more convincing scams and sophisticated attacks, creating an ongoing battle between attackers and defenders.read more..https://pressearn.it.com/blog/?s=Technology+

A swing from digital to analogue learning is happening overseas, but student performance is yet to improve on at least one international measure.

You Still Should Go To College In The Age Of AI. Here’s Why.

"Rapid advancements in artificial intelligence have raised uncertainty about jobs and the value of college. According to the Pew Research Center, young adults increasingly worry about AI taking jobs. No job is entirely AI-proof, creating a need for education and training that emphasizes human skills and adaptability. For college to remain valuable, it must become more affordable and quickly pivot to prepare people for technology-integrated jobs. Higher education must cultivate durable skills, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication, alongside specific subject skills to help workers succeed alongside machines."

EDTECH@UTRGV's insight:

"For college to be worth it in the future of AI, it must not render itself obsolete. For starters, it can’t be so expensive that the value proposition swings wildly out of reach."

Human attention is the new old bottleneck. We have to design for it even more.

"Agents at Anthropic now log six hours for every human hour, and reading their output would eat half a week. The job is to create judgement systems for what deserves attention."

EDTECH@UTRGV's insight:

"One Anthropic engineer compared managing agents to babysitting. A child who needs a juice box opened and a child with a cut finger both arrive at full volume, and so do the agents."

What Educational AI Should Refuse To Do | Educational Technology News | Scoop.it
Educational AI should be evaluated not only by what it can do, but by what it is designed not to do for the student.
EDTECH@UTRGV's insight:

"Assisted performance and learning are not the same thing, and design determines whether a tool supports one while undermining the other."

We Out-Organized Every Species and Built Civilizations. AI Just Did It in Four Days. | Educational Technology News | Scoop.it
Twelve hundred agents invented a language, a government, and cryptography — and none of it was in the benchmark
EDTECH@UTRGV's insight:

"For the whole of human history, the only things on this planet that formed conventions, assigned authority, and coordinated strangers at scale were us. That was the arrangement Harari was describing, and it held without exception until very recently. It doesn’t hold now. Whatever else the next twenty years bring, the students in front of us will spend their working lives among non-human systems that build orders of their own, quickly, and mostly out of sight. Nothing in the curriculum was designed for that, because until this year it was science fiction."

Colleges can show us how to thrive with AI

Colleges can show us how to thrive with AI | Educational Technology News | Scoop.it

"For the past several years, colleges and universities have pondered how artificial intelligence will transform higher education. We're approaching the question backward.

Academia has spent much of the AI era defining itself against the technology when we should be claiming a far more urgent role: showing society how to live with it."

EDTECH@UTRGV's insight:

"Campuses can explore questions technology companies cannot answer for us: When does AI supercharge human learning, and when does it short-circuit it? Which tasks should we gladly hand over to machines, and which forms of intellectual and artistic struggle are worth preserving?"

Intelligent accessibility — what if accessibility could adapt to you?

"The evolution of digital accessibility has given us principles, standards, and tools to identify and remove barriers embedded within digital experiences. But as technology moves towards increasingly dynamic, personalized, and intelligent experiences, can the inclusion of accessibility remain static as it always were till recent? — or more than ever today, do we need to rethink how the term accessibility adapts alongside the people and contexts it is designed for?”

EDTECH@UTRGV's insight:

"In systems facilitated by intelligent accessibility infrastructure, content can change based on user behavior. Interfaces can adapt to different screen sizes and respond to diverse user goals and tasks."

Human in the loop means making sure the human is not out of the loop

"Agents used to wait for a prompt because everyone thought that AI was only chat. Now they triage inboxes, update records, and send messages while we’re in another meeting. That’s the whole point of them, and it’s also where the trouble starts."

EDTECH@UTRGV's insight:

"Agents now act before we ask and reach past what we authorized. A person in the loop isn’t enough if nobody owns the outcome. Here’s what to consider when designing for it."

Where LLMs Fail | Educational Technology News | Scoop.it
As students increasingly turn to AI for learning, understanding its limitations is critical to ensuring it supports learning.
EDTECH@UTRGV's insight:

"A student relying on AI throughout a course encounters a distinct set of failures at each stage of learning: hallucinations when gathering information, sycophancy when testing their understanding, over-automation that replaces rather than supports genuine learning during assignments, and feedback that overlooks the misconceptions, reasoning, and growth opportunities that a human instructor would recognize."
