While there are many coming back to New Orleans, this article (as you would expect in from the Real Estate folks in the Wall Street Journal) strongly emphasizes the high-end offerings of mostly well paid professionals. You have to read between the lines to actually figure this out (and know something of the geography of the City. Suffice it to say that these neighborhoods and houses being touted here are all on the highest or relatively high ground regions of the city. The lower elevation areas (away from the riverbank) have not recovered anywhere near the descriptions in this article. It is precisely because there is so little housing stock in higher elevation areas that these prices are jumping up.
Again, this is actually a story of haves and have nots.
