Doodle Animated Videos Illustrate Concepts Better Than Any Traditional Video Presentation

Robin Good: You have probably already seen a few of the outstading doodle animated videos done by Jorn Nielsen, the king of this art, in some notable clips from RSA called RSA Animates.

These videos are really fantastic, as the unfolding illustrations and characters keep you engaged and focused throughout the clip.

I would certainly recommend this type of video presentation to anyone who has a difficult concept to illustrate or the need to promote a concept, an idea or a product in a way that sticks out from the rest.

And while I would blindly recommend Jorn's work, not every publisher or marketing department can easily afford that level of quality and artistry.

As an alternative to those who may have a tighter budget Seallamations.com may present itself as an promising alternative.

I don't know yet what their pricing is on these doodle videos, but it is certainly good, for all parties involved there is more than one option to look into.

If you find out more, on services, resources and tools that can help you create great doodle animated videos, do not hesitate to let me know.

Doodles by Jorn Nielsen: http://vimeo.com/creativesupport

Doodles by Sellamations: http://sellamations.com/videos/

More info: http://creativesupport.dk/

http://sellamations.com/

I love the doodle build as a way to tell a story. Robin always knows the best tools, and htis is one I will use assuming their pricing isn't crazy. Video pricing is still a little all over the board. Marty

Facebook: Brands Have To Become Publishers

Facebook: Brands Have To Become Publishers | BI Revolution | Scoop.it

Yesterday at New York’s fMC, the Facebook Marketing Conference, the company echoed that very sentiment as it argued that following brands on Facebook is no different than following friends and family. Introducing a suite of new advertising tools--enhanced brand Pages, premium offers, mobile ad placements--the social network reasoned that users would appreciate the additional avenues advertisers now have to reach them, because advertisers share "quality" content. "

Our main objective is to make sure that over time, the advertising is as good as the content you would receive from your friends or family," said Carolyn Everson, Facebook’s VP of global marketing solutions. "It’s very similar to your own Facebook experience. There are certain friends that you probably love getting updates from--they are witty and interesting--and that’s really what we’re trying to do with brands: Stop thinking about brands over here and people over here, but actually [think of] brands as people

Facebook is definitely trying to push brands to use the social network to create more engagement, as it seems more and more difficult on the crowded platform. But we know now that content is king and context is god. Nothing is more powerful than publishing your content where you have a chance to be heard.

Being a publisher not only give you control on what you share but from where you share it. How to get more visibility than that?

Because the more visible brand on Facebook will always stay facebook itself.

Storytellers As Product Developers

Storytellers As Product Developers | BI Revolution | Scoop.it

A product is more than an idea, it's more than a website, and it's more than a transaction or list of functionalities. A product should provide an experience or service that adds value to someone's life through fulfilling a need or satisfying a desire. The ultimate question then becomes: who identifies that value? Maybe it isn't the product manager, marketer, technologist, or designer; perhaps what we need is a new role: the product storyteller.

Are you a product storyteller? Whether you are an entrepreneur, small biz owner, or in marketing/branding, I think you should be!

This is a thoughtful discussion about product creation and the role of the storyteller in the entire development process. I like how the author identifies story work in all phases of the product cycle. She makes great points that will help us all connect better with consumers.

But as the author says, "The challenge today is that we face a shortage of storytellers because our current organizational structures and cultures are not optimized for the activities involved in storytelling."

It also sounds like in the future there should actually be a position called "Product Storyteller!" I hope that the powers-that-be are listening.

Avoid Tables, Demand Visualizations!

Avoid Tables, Demand Visualizations! | BI Revolution | Scoop.it

The great thing about information visualization is it turns numerical information – which takes a high cognitive load to process – into visual information, which takes a very low cognitive load to process. Often, this process involves turning a table of numbers into a bar chart, line chart, scatter plot, or some other chart form.

Marketers Must Become Curators to Help Internet Users Who Are Drowning in Data

Marketers Must Become Curators to Help Internet Users Who Are Drowning in Data | BI Revolution | Scoop.it

This piece was written by Jean-Paul De Clerck for Selligent. I selected it because it reconfirms what we already know as consumers of content and as content marketers trying to reach their audiences.

Magnify's  "Digital Lifestyle" research shows that it's becoming more difficult for so-called professional web users to:

**cope with the stream of communication and

**to distinguish essential information from less important information.

A massive tidal wave in figures

**64% of the participants said that the information they receive had increased over 50% in comparison to the previous year

**Nearly 73% of the respondents described the information overload with superlative terms souch as a "roaring river" or a massive tital wave

It is simply becoming more difficult for people to filter information. And it's very important to realize that this is not caused by technology only, and that it will not be solved by technology.

**In their interactions with consumers and customers, companies have a responsibility to make it as easy and valuable as possible for people.

Here are some takeaways:

**Simplify your cross-channel messaging: improve and personalize your communication

**Marketers must ensure that their messages are targeted and synchronized.

**They should avoid overlapping communication and marketing fatigue. Read white paper

**They should also let people choose their own communication channels more.

**Provide alternatives, because people will increasingly search for them in their quest for coping with information.

**** Let the monetization begin. Just hope it converts. Marty

The Facebook Offers feature makes it easy for businesses to share special discounts and promotions directly from a Facebook Page, which is a nice addition for both advertisers and users. However, the new ad placements may be a slight annoyance for users, as Facebook will now be inserting ads into its mobile news feed and logout page in addition to its web news feed and sidebar.

Robin Good: If you are trying to better understand what your fans, readers and customers like and appreciate from you the most, you may want to start considering Pinterest as a resource for valuable insight on this front.

It is quite easy in fact to discover "who is pinning you" by simply changing in this URL, the "sitename.com" with your site domain:

 http://pinterest.com/source/sitedomain.com/

That's all there is to it.

Google Confirms Panda 3.3 Update, Plus Changes To How It Evaluates Links, Local Search Rankings & Much More | BI Revolution | Scoop.it
Google has confirmed a new Panda update at the same time that it’s announcing 40 search updates that happened in February (or are in progress right now).

Here’s what Google says about its latest Panda-related change:

Panda update. This launch refreshes data in the Panda system, making it more accurate and more sensitive to recent changes on the web.

This sounds very similar to Panda 3.2, which happened in mid-January and was described only as a “data refresh” and not related to new or changed ranking signals.
