A Big Pile of Fantastic Ideas to Get Kids Outside Making and Doing This Summer - The New York Times

A Big Pile of Fantastic Ideas to Get Kids Outside Making and Doing This Summer - The New York Times | Bilingually Enriched Learners | Scoop.it

"It’s May, time for teachers to revisit their bookshelves and think about summer reading selections. This year, I’m considering a different kind of summer reading for my kids, books that will inspire them to head outside and make, do and create. My younger son, Finn, likes these sorts of projects, and while I can provide him with scrap lumber, nails, a drill and some screws, he and I wanted to find some additional inspiration.

Judy Russell, our town librarian, enthusiastically joined in my research and helped me come up with some fantastic resources for inventing, constructing and making."

As a language educator, it is my goal for my students to be able to speak spontaneously in the target language. Every language teacher knows the challenge of getting all students to speak authentically in class. Here is an excellent tool that all foreign language teachers will love to have. Extempore is a service designed for educators to assess speaking skills as they learn a new language. Extempore has proven to be a very effective and time-saving assessment tool.

Extempore is both an app and a website. Teachers will need to set up an account and input their class(es).

YouTube is the biggest  and a free platform for entertainment in the world, there is a lot of content for different likes and people. Here people can learn a lot from a incredible amount of different topics. So why not to use it for learning English? Here there are YouTube Channels whose focus is teaching english by giving tips, explaining different topics or even explaining idioms, there are a lot of possibilities that people should definitely take into account when learning English.
Katherine Giraldo's curator insight, March 8, 2020 11:53 AM
Youtube is an excellent tool through which we can access a big amount of content in different languages including English. Nowadays, we do not depend only on the audios and texts we used to learn English, we can also search for almost any topic about English and there will be a class available. I think that youtube is a very useful tool since it is very easy to have access to it. If you have internet it does not matter in which part of the world you are, you can access a video of youtube.
