Background  In October 2023, Bangladesh introduced a free, single-dose human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine for girls aged 9–14 through its national vaccination program to prevent cervical cancer, the second most common cancer among Bangladeshi females, caused by the HPV. Although vaccine hesitancy was not a significant issue before the COVID-19 pandemic, experiences from that pandemic and global literature suggest that the population’s uptake of this vaccine may face barriers due to concerns related to reproductive health, fertility, and cultural and religious beliefs. This is particularly relevant in a country where Islam is the state religion, 91% of the population is Muslim, and religious leaders hold significant influence over public opinion. Methods  Building upon the recently developed Integrative Public Policy Acceptance (IPAC) framework, this qualitative study explores the factors shaping religious leaders’ support for the HPV vaccine informing their potential role in promoting it. Semi-structured interviews with leaders from Bangladesh’s five main Islamic traditions were thematically analysed using NVivo 14 with inductive and deductive coding. Results  Islamic religious leaders’ varying support for HPV vaccinations in Bangladesh was influenced by their limited awareness of cervical cancer, as well as their religious and social concerns about ingredients, side effects and a fear of promoting promiscuity. Political ideologies also played a significant role, as leaders were less supportive of the program when they perceived the government as ideologically opposed to the beliefs or practices of their specific religious tradition. Conclusion  The study’s contribution to the IPAC framework highlights the importance of political consensus in policy acceptance, explaining how partisanship and ideological differences impact public policy compliance. The findings underscore the need for health systems in Muslim majority countries to engage with religious authorities, build political inclusivity and consensus, and align health policies with religious and cultural values.

✅ "Des médicaments homéopathiques peuvent être traditionnellement utilisés dans la prévention et le traitement de l'état grippal (fièvre, frissons courbatures, etc.) mais ils ne sont ni autorisés ni efficaces dans la prévention de la grippe.

✅ On ne doit donc pas employer le terme de “vaccin homéopathique” pour parler de ces médicaments.

✅ Nous rappelons que les médicaments homéopathiques ne se substituent pas aux vaccins antigrippaux et ne protègent pas de la grippe : leur utilisation à la place du vaccin grippal représente une perte de chance importante pour les patients, notamment les personnes de plus de 65 ans et celles à risque de développer une grippe grave ou des complications."

Did you know Denmark and the U.S. start childhood vaccination at different ages?

Denmark begins routine vaccination at 3 months. The U.S. schedule begins at 2 months, with several injections at that first visit.

Denmark’s first MMR dose is given at 15 months, with no other vaccines scheduled at that visit. In the U.S., additional vaccines are often given around the first MMR at 12 months.

The result is very different schedules:

Bad ethics not just bad Science

Non 24 heures : L'homéopathie, c'est du sucre. Ça ne soigne pas des maladies infectieuses potentiellement mortelles comme la coqueluche.

Dans le titre de votre article :
"Le Dr François Choffat est décédé
Mettant l’être humain au cœur de sa pratique, le médecin avait fait du centre de la Corbière d’Estavayer un pôle de l’homéopathie."

Non, le Dr Choffat n'a pas "mis l'être humain au coeur de sa pratique", mais ses croyances personnelles complètement décalées avec les connaissances scientifiques, mettant potentiellement en danger de nombreux patients.

Le Dr Choffat a par ailleurs été un ardent militant contre les vaccins.

Il a par exemple déclaré :

« Se vacciner, c’est prendre un risque certain, ne pas se vacciner c’est prendre un risque probable »

« Les vaccinations sont comme une loterie où des joueurs sont sacrifiés à la collectivité sans qu’on sache lesquels à l’avance. »

« Toutes les maladies auto-immunes peuvent être déclenchées par des vaccinations. »

« Chaque médecin peut vérifier que le cancer du sein se développe beaucoup plus souvent du côté où se trouve la cicatrice du vaccin antivariolique. »

« Certains virus (variole, polio, rougeole, rubéole) ont été cultivés sur des cellules de singe contenant des virus proches du Sida qui ont été ainsi transmis à l’espèce humaine. »

« Je refuse le vaccin (NB: contre le Covid), mais je prends quotidiennement, à titre prophylactique, de la vitamine C, de la vitamine D et du Zinc. Ainsi que de l'Ivermectine, une fois par mois. »

« Les rares groupes d'enfants non vaccinés sont la preuve que la vie se défend mieux contre les maladies que contre les vaccins. »

Avec son "groupe médical de réflexion sur les vaccins" (groupe de médecins homéopathes vaccino-sceptiques de Suisse romande) :
« Dans notre pratique, l’amélioration fréquente de ces cas (NB: autisme, dyslexie, délinquance, etc) grâce au "drainage" homéopathique est une preuve de l’origine vaccinale de ces affections. »

« La coqueluche est bénigne dans l’immense majorité des cas et ne justifie pas, à notre avis, un vaccin à l’efficacité incertaine et aux effets secondaires bien établis. »

« dans la très grande majorité des cas, l’hépatite B est une maladie bénigne. »

« Laissons à nos enfants la chance de faire la rougeole naturellement à l’âge où elle est bénigne. »

Comble de l'ironie de votre hommage hyper complaisant, après le décès de 2 personnes non vaccinées contre la rougeole en Suisse en 2019, le Dr Choffat avait refusé de répondre au 24 heures, arguant qu'il n'avait "plus confiance dans les médias officiels".

Nous avons appris à écouter et accompagner l’hésitation vaccinale des patients.
Mais que se passe-t-il lorsque ce doute émane des décideurs politiques ?
Aux États-Unis, des orientations politiques ont récemment conduit Centers for Disease Control and Prevention à modifier certaines recommandations vaccinales sans données scientifiques solides: un signal préoccupant pour la santé publique!!

L’hésitation vaccinale des responsables politiques doit être questionnée et "combattue".

At a time where RFK Jr. is sowing yet more skepticism about vaccines, it should be noted that vaccine mandates (and particularly limiting exclusions from those mandates) do work.

Exhibit A: Mississippi and West Virginia - neither state has reported a measles case (2 among only 7 states remaining) and with the most significant mandates for childhood MMR vaccines, with minimal exclusions - 0.7% and < 0.1%, respectively.

Exhibit B: Texas, South Carolina, and Arizona, with the largest Measles outbreaks and 3.9%, 8.5% and 4.4% exemptions, respectively.

Covid flu RSV. Happily killing for the holidays

We entered the lowest paying field of medicine with the same loans and long hours as our peers in other medical specialties.

We walk hand in hand down the road with families through joyful and sometimes heartbreaking experiences.

Some of us are old enough to remember the child who died from rotavirus dehydration, the teen who lost a leg to meningococcal sepsis, the teen who developed hepatocellular carcinoma from hepatitis B, the toddler who died from HiB epiglottitis, the 1-month-old who stopped breathing due to pertussis infection, the 8-year-old who had necrotizing fasciitis from chickenpox, the children from families who lost their 35-year-old moms to cervical cancer due to HPV infection, or the many many infants who were airlifted to the hospital not breathing due to RSV.

We are the same physicians who help you get through that croupy night.

We are the same physicians who adjust your child's asthma medications to keep him out of the emergency room.

We are the same physicians who celebrate the joys of your social charmer 4-month-old and the heartbreak of your 7-year-old struggling in school.

We partner with parents.
We stand with families.
We stand with children, teens, and young adults.

We took an oath to do no harm, but we go way beyond that.
Pediatricians want your child to THRIVE.

Politicians did not take that oath.
Some politicians lied through all of their oaths and testimony.
Will you call them for help when you really need it?
We will be there, beside you no matter what.

C was the first kid I met when I moved to Eden Prairie in November of 5th grade.

He picked me up from the principal's office and walked me to our class, introducing me to the ins and outs of the room. We quickly became friends, and his was one of the few houses I'd spend time at outside of school during the years leading up to high school.

We were barely teenagers when C's older brother died from meningitis.

I still remember the shock of learning that, even though C and I hardly hung out outside of school by then.

We now have more recommended vaccines than when I grew up, including the adolescent meningococcal series, because lives were lost and futures cut short, like C’s brother’s; science gave us a way to prevent that loss and reduce pain and suffering.

Whether it's parents having to sit with fear and worry while their children suffer through a preventable rotavirus, COVID-19 or influenza hospitalization,

children having to live with the chronic complications of viral hepatitis,

or the bright futures of teens being snuffed out by a sudden meningitis infection,

this decision by RFK will not make America Healthy Again.

Je me réjouis de constater que mes récentes publications alertant de la tenue d'un prochain "colloque" au Sénat où interviendront les représentants du Collège Universitaire de Médecines Intégrative et Complémentaires (CUMIC) et du GETCOP Groupe d'Evaluation des Thérapies Complémentaires Personnalisées et des pratiques innovantes, officines du charlatanisme pseudo-médical, donnent l'occasion à de nombreux praticiens et autres adeptes de méthodes peu recommandables de visiter mon profil. Pour un peu, si je cédais à la paranoïa, je pourrais presque me sentir surveillé mais cela aurait plutôt tendance à me réjouir !

Et si certains d'entre eux souhaitent m'intimider par une quelconque procédure bâillon car j'utilise le terme "charlatanisme", je pense que le Conseil national de l'Ordre des médecins et l'ACADEMIE NATIONALE DE MEDECINE DE FRANCE ne sauraient me défausser si j'invoque l'article R4127-39 du Code de la Santé Publique qui le définit ainsi : "fait pour un médecin de proposer à des malades des remèdes illusoires ou insuffisamment éprouvés en les présentant comme salutaires ou sans danger".

Toutes les disciplines listées en illustration (crédit : Thomas C. Durand) répondent à cette définition inscrite dans le code de déontologie médicale, ce qui n'empêche par certains médecins de les proposer à leurs patients avec le silence complice de l'Ordre qui préfère manifestement blâmer les gardiens de l'orthodoxie comme Mathias Wargon...

Il n'est pas inutile de rappeler les "fondements" de certaines de ces disciplines :
- Ostéopathie : profession de santé non reconnue mais hélas trop souvent confondue avec la kinésithérapie, elle repose sur une philosophie pseudo-scientifique, sans aucune base théorique tangible et dont l'efficacité n'a jamais été prouvée, nous la devons à Andrew Taylor Still, un alcoolo américain qui aurait eu une révélation divine.

- Auriculothérapie : vague dérivé de l'acupuncture, elle est due aux divagations de Paul Nogier qui voyait dans le tympan de l'oreille une image inversée d'un foetus et en aurait conclu qu'à chaque zone de ce même tympan correspond un organe ou une fonction. Il devait pas tourner à l'eau claire ce bonhomme...

- Homéopathie : en parlant d'eau claire... tellement claire qu'avec les dilutions successives d'Hahnemann, l'eau ressort plus propre qu'elle n'y est entrée ! En 2017, même si Boiron y ajoute du sucre pour le goût, le European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC) a estimé que ces substances présentent des risques significatifs, car leur emploi retarde ou empêche le recours des patients à des soins médicaux appropriés.

- Fasciathérapie : les fascias, ces membranes conjonctives qui soutiennent les tendons auraient des propriétés fonctionnelles au-delà de la proprioception et de leur rôle de tissu de soutien, leur "manipulation" permettrait de mieux répartir les fluides et d'améliorer le flux sanguin... ça a l'air très joli comme ça mais du bullshit intégral quand même !

Despite changes to federal childhood vaccine recommendations, AAP will continue to share its own, evidence-based vaccination schedule.  

Traditionally, health experts, scientists and pediatricians have continued to review new data as part of the immunization recommendation process, helping to protect infants and children against some of the most dangerous preventable diseases. The AAP recommendations are rooted in science and have been trusted by parents and pediatricians for decades.

Why this clinical trial is extremely concerning : Graham Walker, MD should be commended for reviewing all that is wrong with the Guinea-Bissau HepB vaccine trial… And there so many reasons for such… Too many to see such trial move forward…

One minute you’re doing the downward dog, the next you’re listening to conspiracy theories about Covid or the new world order. How did the desire to look after yourself become so toxic?

Children in the US are actually dying of flu. Like actually dying. And yet, HHS has just said that influenza vaccines are no longer routinely recommended for children. Square that circle.
