There is some incredible work happening right now related to women in P-12 educational leadership. Below are four initiatives that have caught my attention over the past few months... Women Who Lead. The first initiative is Women Who Lead, which is led by the always awesome Kim Cofino and her team at Eduro Learning. Women Who Lead has more than 500 curated video conversations with over 70 women who hold leadership positions in education. There are 8 different learning modules, customized pathway options, protocols, scholarship opportunities, a private discussion forum, a curated Twitter list, and much, much more.  SheLeadsEdu. The

Now Tiffany Green-Abdullah, founding director of GSU's Digital Learners to Leaders co-curricular program since 2018, is focusing on developing similar programs to be offered more widely — outside GSU.

6 Lessons Learned About Better Teaching During the Pandemic via Edweek

Educators who work in personalized learning schools are adjusting instruction for remote, hybrid, and in-person learning.

Via Dr. Tom D'Amico (@TDOttawa)
Samantha Ferguson's curator insight, November 13, 2020 8:14 PM
Educators want to build new strategies and approaches to teaching that can be used inside the building and during remote learning to achieve a better understanding for students. Independence is a relatively new factor of teaching these days because teachers are forced to be more flexible due to the differing home environments of students now that we are learning online. I think independence is something students need, rather than teachers nudging at us to get something done. It teaches us responsibility that we'll need later in life, and there's no better time to learn than now. Also, students develop different skills. For example, they are getting much better with technology, which can be useful in their future jobs due to society moving further towards technology. I think it's important that students learn more useful skills during remote learning while teachers are developing more thorough and personal ways to teach and connect with their students. I have been hoping educators would realize that new ways of teaching are necessary for the past few years, so I am glad that it has finally been brought to their attention.

Early in my career I worked for a manager who clearly embodied an “old school” management style. He was full of bravado and was intentionally intimidating. He was a terrible listener and would yell frequently in an attempt to get desired action and results. Initially it was exciting to be around him; in some strange way I found him inspiring. ... Dr. Joe Boutte's curator insight, May 31, 2020 7:16 AM

In the midst of pandemic, riots, and uncertain times the importance of #connectedness and #unity become more important and urgent. In the short notes from an interview between Skip Prichard and Eric George the two men discuss connectedness.  Here's how Mr. George describes connectedness:

"Connectedness is a philosophy that has made my life fulfilling, both personally and professionally. The mindset is all about taking an interest in how people are experiencing the world. It’s about trying to understand their perspective, listening to them, learning how you can help them, learning how you can empower them to help you, and learning how together you can accomplish something where everyone wins. It’s a mindset in which you approach every person and interaction with the question, “What can we accomplish together?” And it’s the basis for relationships and achievements that add meaning to life."
