The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development ( OECD) is an international organisation comprised of 38 member countries, that works to build better policies for better lives. Our mission is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. Together with governments, policy makers and citizens, we work on establishing evidence-based international standards, and finding solutions to a range of social, economic and environmental challenges. THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTORATE (EXD)

The Executive Directorate (EXD) is the steward of OECD resources, on behalf of the Secretary-General. Our focus is on people and their wellbeing; the effective and efficient management of the budget; the safety and security of staff, Delegations, visitors, and of the OECD’s data; maintaining and sustaining physical and digital infrastructure; and enabling the convening power of the OECD through conferences, meetings and events, whether virtual, physical or hybrid. As well as providing corporate services, functions and management support to our staff and Members, we provide integrated, strategic and expert advice on corporate policies and management issues to the Secretary-General, to Council and to Standing Committees, to which we regularly report on corporate matters. We also provide compliance and risk management functions (for management areas under our purview). Ours is a fast-paced environment focused on delivering management excellence across all of our functions.

THE CONFERENCE, SECURITY AND INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICE (EXD/CSI)

Within the OECD's Executive Directorate (EXD), the Conference, Security and Infrastructure Service (EXD/CSI) is responsible in particular for the conference services, language services (interpretation and translation), safety and fire security of OECD staff, delegates and visitors and the management and operation of OECD buildings facilities in Paris and at OECD Centres abroad. Within EXD/CSI, the Translation Division (EXD/CSI/TRA) translates official OECD documents and publications into the Organisation's official languages (French and English) and into other non-official languages, and conducts other linguistic activities, including work on terminology.

Main Responsibilities

Managing computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools:

Determine the best way to handle complex translation projects using CAT tools; estimate translation costs and effort using complex analyses; help prepare complex documents for computer-assisted translation.Create, organise and update CAT resources (translation memories, terminology databases, profiles, project templates, filters, regular expressions, etc.). In this role, act as an advisor in collaboration with the Translation Engineering Manager.Regularly analyse and optimise procedures for using CAT tools.

Managing the machine translation (MT) tool:

Ensure that machine translation is integrated into translation and project management processes.In liaison with the provider of the machine translation engine, ensure the smooth running and continuous improvement of the MT system used by EXD/CSI/TRA.Gather feedback from the Translation teams and contribute to post-editing training for translators in the French section of EXD/CSI/TRA.

Managing bibliographical references and other documentary resources:

Process bibliographical references and other documentary resources in respect of deadlines and quality requirements.Gather appropriate documentary and terminological data from the relevant departments of the Executive Directorate.Optimise the processing of bibliographical references and other documentary resources by analysing the resources collected before transforming and feeding them into the MT and CAT tools.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Academic Background

University degree in translation, preferably with a specialisation in translation technologies.

Professional Background

At least three years' experience in translation, including post-editing.Experience of terminology research and the processing of bibliographical and other documentary references.Solid experience of managing and/or using translation tools, including machine translation engines.Familiarity with managing complex translation projects.Professional experience in a multicultural environment would be an advantage.

Tools

Very good knowledge of Trados Studio, MultiTerm and machine translation. Good knowledge of GroupShare would be an asset.Excellent command of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Good command of collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Sharepoint, etc. or willingness to learn to master them quickly.Keen interest in digital technologies in general and willingness to pursue ongoing training in technological developments, including generative artificial intelligence.

Core Competencies

Languages

Fluent French. Very strong knowledge of English and professional ability to translate from this language.

Salary Information

Remuneration

Salary and conditions will depend on the experience of the selected candidate as well as on her/his status (temporary staff or official). For temporary staff, salary starts at EUR 3 200....
