The Captioning Studio, which provides quality captioning and subtitling services for the Deaf and hard of hearing, has patented and developed a range of advanced technology for captioning in many areas of life, including education, the arts and the workplace. The company has also launched a series of initiatives to create awareness in Australia of the importance of captioning inclusion to those who are Deaf or hard of hearing. According to a recent report, some 4.5 million Australians have a hearing loss. This number is predicted to rise to 1 in 4 Australians by 2050.

L’apprentissage des langues africaines ne doivent pas se militer seulement aujoud’hui dans les salles de classes, dans les centres d’alphabétisation et sous les hangars. Elles doivent percer les murs, franchir les frontières pour se rendre accessibles à tous et partout à travers le monde. C’est dans ce sens que le projet africantongues donne l’opportunité et la chance à tout le monde d’apprendre ces langues par écrit et par audio sans que l’absence physique du professeur ne soit une entrave pour la maîtrise l’écriture et la lecture de ces langues qui peuvent également jouer leurs rôles dans le multilinguisme, le partage d’expérience et la mondialisation.

Los lingüistas que nos dedicamos a la revisión de textos, a la corrección de estilo y a la traducción somos gente de difícil clasificación: no sólo ponemos los acentos y corregimos las faltas de los textos ajenos, sino que además nos gusta (Toni Batllori dixit). Horacio Sáenz Guerrero –director de La Vanguardia en los años de la transición– llamaba a estos profesionales Cyranos de la lengua. Es decir, esos lingüistas que, a pesar del anonimato, arreglan con esmero los textos para que los firmantes, a veces por las prisas, a veces por una insuficiente preparación lingüística, publiquen sus artículos perfectos....
Las lenguas no son simétricas: ni cuando hablamos de sinonimia (los matices impiden en muchísimas ocasiones que las palabras sean intercambiables unas por otras, tanto que hay especialistas que dudan de que exista) ni cuando comparamos diferentes lenguas, ni siquiera aquellas que están emparentadas.....
A propos de la langue, c’est depuis 1975 que le Swahili a été reconnue à l’ONU est inscrit à l’UNICEF comme la langue officielle Africaine et c’est à ce titre qu’un autre ex-président : Konaré alors président de la Commission de l’UA (président l’institution juste à mes yeux) s’est battu afin que ce Swahili soit très vite adoptée comme la langue commune Africaine. Je me serais attendu que le Président Diouf lui donne un coup de main et non aller défendre une langue qui empêche l’émergence de la culture africaine. S’il contestait le Swahili, il aurait pu défendre le Wolof, pas le français.

Un terme qui ne fait pas l’unanimité. « La traduction force le trait, reconnaît le linguiste – et agrégé d’anglais – Alain Bentolila. La formule américaine est plus acceptable et moins grossière. Même si les deux versions partagent cette poésie et ce contraste entre les premiers vers qui font appel à l’imagination et le leitmotiv du “fais pas chier” qui conclut chaque page. » « Dans le texte américain, l’enfant est valorisé : c’est un père bourru qui s’énerve avec des “fuck” adressés plus contre lui-même que contre son enfant, observe la sémiologue Mariette Darrigrand.
