"The 3rd Spring School in Translation Studies Conference: "Translation & Imagination"

The third Lisbon Spring School in Translation Studies Conference will be held in early June at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Lisbon, Portugal. This year's Spring school, with the title 'Translation and the Imagination', will explore the multiple ways in which imagination weaves itself into the interpretation and the textual fabric of different forms of translation, from age-old forms to the new challenges posed by intermedial and transmedial texts, and computer-assisted translation. It will also look into the part imagination plays in translation and how this is affected by the emergence of AI translation.

Dr. Delphine Grass from the School of Global Affairs will deliver a paper entitled 'A Particular Kind of Relation: Translation, Praxis and the Social Imagination’. Her paper explores creative-critical translation practices which have engaged a critique of the politics of translation by deviating, slowing down or mattering translational relations in visual and textural terms to side-step oppressive rules of international and ecological engagement. It will also delve into the relationship between creativity and translation in the era of GenAI from the critical perspective of creative-critical translation practices.

Alongside its new MA Global Leadership programme, the School of Global Affairs also offers an established MA Translation Studies degree which allows students to develop their linguistic and technical skills to move into a wide range of careers in translation."
