Designed as a healthier alternative to the traditional tobacco-filled cigarette, the battery-powered pen-sized devices contain liquid nicotine that turns into vapour when inhaled.

For Jordan Hamilton, vaping e-cigarettes means choosing the devil he doesn't know over the devil he does.

No list of ingredients comes with the nicotine-infused liquid he buys, though proponents argue the mixture is far less harmful, or even harmless, compared to cigarettes.

Hamilton started using nicotine e-cigarettes "non-stop" in January. He buys them from an Ontario website and takes the sellers' word on the nicotine content he orders - he has options of 12, 16 or 20 milligrams.

"I'm just taking what they say as fact. Because from what I understand all the fluids are made from the individual dealers and they put nicotine into their flavoured fuel liquid," he says.

He also believes the e-cigs are less harmful.

Electronic cigarettes deliver nicotine-laced, vaporized liquid instead of burning tobacco fumes.

Some people are calling electronic cigarettes a healthy alternative to smoking tobacco.

Someone had the bright idea that to stop smoking but still keep the nicotine, it might be easier to go “natural”. And, since it's summer, why not take advantage of typical seasonal veggies… That is, consume it, eat it and enjoy it.
