There’s no shortage of people writing about the jobs of the future- often with a focus on either emerging technology or near-term growth projections. But something is missing. Actually, there is a lot missing from discussions about the jobs of the future.

The past year has witnessed massive changes at work - it's no longer just about when, where and how we work but also why we work. Hybrid operating models are being adopted at an unprecedented rate.
And no two hybrid work structures are the same - ranging from companies maintaining permanent centralised offices to entirely doing away with offices and relying on co-working spaces or meeting rooms to support the needs of employees.
A new relationship between the employer and the employee is emerging - it's a new social contract. Every organisation now is coming up with a unique approach to meet its people's needs.

There’s no doubt that the impact of the pandemic and the Great Resignation on our country is unprecedented. Nineteen million workers quit their jobs between March and July this year. Job openings surged to an all-time high of 10.1 million in June.
While informative, these numbers are inherently flawed because they don’t differentiate between generations—which means that they aren’t telling us the whole story. Think about it: there’s a big difference between a 37-year-old Millennial who has been working for 15 years and a 22-year-old Z who is just entering the workforce. What each looks for in a job is wildly different, but the data doesn’t give us insight into their unique wants and needs.

Nicholas Bloom, a Stanford University economics professor, has been researching working from home for almost 20 years—longer if you count the time he observed his remote-working parents while growing up.
Bloom’s research, including speaking with hundreds of managers and conducting surveys, leads him to the conclusion that “working from home is here to stay, with hybrid arrangements fast becoming the dominant strain”. Bloom believes, “By 2022, the typical firm will have everyone in the office three days a week, typically Tuesday to Thursday, and working from home Monday and Friday.”

The metaverse is a (potential network of) 3D virtual world(s) on the internet. These worlds are typically designed to be highly social and require users to have virtual identities, often through avatars with specific attributes. These worlds can provide a sense of ownership over virtual items such as land, building and artwork, as they typically have their own virtual economy with their own currency. Examples of these worlds today include Second Life, Fortnite, Roblox, The Sandbox, Decentraland and Somnium.

By the end of this course, participants will have learned how to define the meta factors associated with each tool in order to simply them and tell improvement stories in a clear and concise way. They will also gain a better understanding of the history of decision making in the work place by analyzing and building decision matrices and will be able to successfully build pareto, run, and bar charts, and design scatter diagrams. Participants will be empowered with the tools and critical thinking skills necessary to develop performance and importance matrixes which they can then use in a variety of organizational roles.

The replication crisis within the field of psychology has been well established for some time already. Out of necessity, it has cornered psychological researchers and forced them to put their own as well as all the prior literature under careful inspection. As awareness of the crisis has spread, numerous incentives to reproduce classical studies have sprouted. Within medicine, though, the discussion seems to lag behind or actuate change only in its sub-fields such as oncology. In fact, it could be argued that issues with biomedical and pharmacological research have been brought under sufficient scrutiny only in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. As studies on the virus’s nature have a more direct effect on the population’s well-being than research on, say, the effects of listening to classical music before eating, this is certainly understandable. As an example, analyzing 29 subject-to-concern research publications about the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19, Besançon and colleagues (2021) found six of these papers to have been retracted due to the methodology or the data analysis being wrong. Although not all of these six papers underwent the peer-review process, it is worth noting that even at this level of research, scientists still make errors in choosing the appropriate analysis methods.
