Janssen launches mobile medication reminder service - Care4Today is available for iPhone, Android and Blackberry smartphones as well as 'feature phones' Care4Today was developed by Janssen’s San Diego-based Healthcare Innovation team, an entrepreneurial unit within Janssen Research & Development that was set up last year. “Janssen Healthcare Innovation is developing products and services to transform the patient experience and promote better health outcomes. We have identified improving medication adherence as one of our key initiatives,” said Diego Miralles, the head of Janssen Healthcare Innovation.

Proteus Digital Health has received FDA clearance for its ingestible sensor. The sensor (formally referred to as the Ingestion Event Marker or IEM) is part of the Proteus digital health feedback system, which also includes a wireless skin patch (previously called Raisin Personal Monitor) with which the sensor communicates. The Ottawa Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada is an example of a healthcare provider that has deployed an iPad mobile app – not for consumers but for doctors. The app, a computerized physician order entry (CPOE) system, was deployed to more than 1,000 doctors. The goal Ottawa specifically had was to change the process that had evolved for doctors to gain information about patients – a process that involved keeping doctors glued to computers rather than keeping them out in the field, so to speak, where they could visit in meaningful ways in face to face conversations with their patients.
