NewSpace: A New Era In Space Exploration. As one era ends a new one begins: a new golden era in spaceflight. Join us for all the latest headlines in this bold new adventure.
The goal of Von Braun Station is to build a dual-use station that is economically self-sustaining. Von Braun Stations creation will also form a space construction industry with bots, pods, drones, construction arms, new space suits, and large-scale truss building machines designed for building large structures in space.
Private Division flew me up to Seattle so I could meet with Star Theory, the developer for Kerbal Space Program 2, after a private meeting at their offices I had a chance to sit down with creativge director Nate Simpson at PAX West to ask him questions. RBALR
Welcome to Episode 30 of What about it!? In this Episode, we will take a look at the latest progress on SpaceX's Starship Orbital Prototype and Super Heavy
Elon Musk, founder of Spacex wants to build a Mars city. The SpaceX currently working on the Starship to send the humans to the red planet. SpaceX Starship is critical to these plans. This is a prototype of the reusable vehicle that SpaceX hopes to one-day use to transport up to 100 people to destinations including the Moon and Mars, with a Raptor engine instead of the rocket propellant used for the Falcon 9’s Merlin engines. That’s important because, SpaceX Raptor engines burn methane and oxygen - both chemicals Musk believes humans will be able to establish propellant plants and create fuel to power a return voyage to Earth.
In episode 46 of #SpaceX in the News, we analyze the #starhopper 150 meter landing; get excited about the new #Starship upgrades and presentation; take a look at the new ridesharing and #Starlink mission schedule.
Welcome to Episode 29 of What about it!? In this Episode, we will take a look at the SpaceX Starhopper 150 Meter Test Flight summary. We will go in depth on what happened and maybe even more importantly, we will look at brand new info on what's next! There is a new date for the Starship Presentation 2019 and lots more! Last but not least, we will have a look at Cargo Dragons recent unberthing from the ISS and its return to earth.
SpaceX Starhopper Rocket Prototype Takes Giant Leap for Elon Musk's Lifetime Goal of Colonizing Mars
After what SpaceX's founder Elon Musk called an "embarrassing" glitch with Starhopper, an experimental rocket ship, the company pulled off an impressive launch and landing on 27th August, Tuesday.
This afternoon and after a bunch of delays and a failed attempt at the launch yesterday due to an issue with the igniters SpaceX Starhopper Launches and took to the skies with its second and final untethered flight for this test vessel. The target flight for this was 150 meters in altitude which was revised down from 200 meters before today's flight. The reason for this seems to be due to regulatory approvals being more difficult above the 150 meter mark but that is possibly a little bit of speculation at this point. The starhopper itself is roughly 20 meters in height so we were expecting the view of the Starhopper hovering up around seven to eight times its own height before slowly coming back to gently touch down. From these shots it does certainly look like the target altitude there was reached successfully. The 150 Meter Flight Test is Successful! Here is my take on this amazing achievement. Congratulations SpaceX!
So the time has come where the SpaceX Starhopper test will take place. But this time it won't be a 20 m hop, but rather a SpaceX Starhopper 150m test. Then we also talk about two private spaceflight companies that want to send unmanned probes to the moon in 2021, as well as about Elon's wild idea to nuke mars.
Lots of new this week so here is a quick snapshot of everything going on. Firstly we’ll explore some news around Starhopper and Starship prototypes, we’re going to take a little peak at some of the most beautiful footage I’ve ever seen of the Dragon docked to the space station with a sunrise going on here in the background. We’ve had a the final United Launch Alliance flight of the Delta IV Medium rocket which is a little sad so we’ll touch on that. And also a little bit of exciting news that dropped this week about a brand new version of the game Kerbal Space Program 2 which has been announced. So loads of things to cover here.
So we're going to Mars and quite soon it seems, first humans could be setting a foot on Mars by 2026. I am looking what SpaceX needs to consider before sending a manned mission to Mars, what is needed for a successful manned Mission to Mars and how to sustain manned presence on the Red Planet.
Welcome to Episode 26 of What about it!? In this Episode, we'll take a look at the new test dates for SpaceX's Starhoppers 200 Meter Hop, the Roadmap to SpaceX Starship completion, Linkspace's successfull 300 Meter hop test with their RLV-T5 and Sierra Nevada's Dream Chaser that recently got dates for it's first launch on ULA's Vulcan rocket with the CRS-2 program towards the ISS!
Now that Starhopper has fulfilled its mission, we focus on the Spacex Florida Starship, which will soon be transported to the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) according to newly filed permits by SpaceX. Then of course we also want to talk about the next generation Starship 2.0, and also about the completion of the James Webb space telescope (JWST).
In a tweet on August 28th Elon Musk suggested the SpaceX Starship 2.0 will be 18 meters in diameter. This would be huge, of course and it's huge news. It matters for so many things, including going to Mars and also Point to Point travel on earth.
Here's a clip from episode 162 of the podcast where we did a launch hangout for SpaceX's Starhopper test to 150m. This was recorded on the first attempt, on August 26th, 2019 which was scrubbed 24 hours.
There was some solid space talk in there about what starhopper is and why SpaceX would want to build a water tower with rockets on it?
I've seen these questions pop up a lot, and heard a few other science communicators talk about this and I wanted to put a clip out on this for anyone searching for it as well.
In this video we want to think about how to make mars a habitable planet. Without some crucial upgrades to the current colonization ideas, we deem mars colonization impossible. We show ways to overcome the detrimental effects of low gravity and cosmic radiation, and therefore how to make mars habitable for humans.
What an amazing few days it has been. SpaceX Starhopper Lift Off with a 20 Meter Flight Test Successful! We also saw an interesting attempt at the same mission yesterday which has some nice footage included in this video. On top of all this we also had the incredible CRS-18 mission to the Space station which has launched beautifully with the booster of course making its way back to the landing site to touch down. There are of course a large number of fans out there super eager to cheer SpaceX on and celebrate all they’ve achieved over the last year or so but there is a heck of a lot of people trying to discredit projects such as Starhopper and the Starship prototypes. None of these people of course seem to comprehend how amazing all this is. The fact that SpaceX release all this test footage is just something that people are very unused to seeing. The general public just don’t seem to appreciate that failure and rapid prototypes are a great thing. Lets explore this topic in more detail shall we.
Welcome to Episode 28 of What about it!? In this Episode, we'll take a look at the latest info on the SpaceX Starhopper 150 Meter (it's been reduced) test flight. We will also take a look at the latest progress on the Starship Prototypes and a new heavy lift crane delivered to Boca Chica. Last but not least we will take a close look at the last ever Delta IV Medium launch and summarize it.
SpaceX is perhaps one of the most important companies in the world. When it comes to revolutionizing the space industry, SpaceX is the first thing that comes to my mind. From landing reusable rockets to putting humans on Mars, they are the pioneers of the future of space travel. They've achieved so much that people are even asking the question, "Who will get us to Mars first? NASA vs. SpaceX?" But, what does SpaceX do? And why are they important?
We begin the new Outward Bound series by discussing the Colonization of Mars, and survey all the colonizing and terraforming options from the early settlement days to the far future and a Green Mars.
We will also look at alternatives to terraforming which might make more sense for Mars, like bioforming the people to the environment, rather than terraforming it to our environment.
