Breaking News - SpaceX Starship MK-1 Tank Explodes On Test Stand! | SpaceX in the News Episode 65. Today the first prototype (MK-1) of SpaceX's Mars' rocket failed to complete a pressure test of its LOX tank.
SpaceX has just been selected into NASA's commercial lunar program for sending humans back to the Moon by 2024! So has NASA finally recognized that they can't progress their Artemis program further without SpaceX's help? For us this is the perfect occasion for a thorough SLS vs Starship comparison!
An official government report just confirmed NASA's corrupt practice in awarding commercial contracts. In our SpaceX vs Boeing rant we explain in detail how SpaceX has been achieving far more with less budget provided by NASA. Of course, updates on SpaceX Starlink network and SpaceX Starship development can't be missing in this week's space news.
Today we are going to talk about the SpaceX Starlink satellite launch and deployment. This was a record-breaking mission in several ways. But more than that we are going to talk about why this mission is such a big deal. SpaceX has this week sent up the first "operational" set of satellites into orbit. This amazing set of missions aims to create a super low latency telecommunications network. And how are they going to do this? Not by launching just these 60 satellites, which is amazing by itself, but by launching anywhere up to 42,000 satellites in several sophisticated orbital shells around the world. Then, of course, there have been plenty of Starship production news going on and even some more news about Crew Dragon.
SpaceX's Crew Dragon astronaut spacecraft successfully fired its launch-escape engines on the ground on Wednesday (Nov. 13) at the company's facilities at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida — paving the way for a high-altitude rocket escape test and demonstrating engineers have apparently fixed the problem that triggered an explosion during a similar ground firing in April. If that test flight goes well, SpaceX is then poised to fly humans on the Crew Dragon for the first time next year.
In this Episode, we will take an in depth look at SpaceX's progress in Boca Chica. We will also take a close look at the updated Starlink Satellites and last but not least, we will find out, what you can do with 20 dollars, when it comes to payload and LEO.
What a week of news! Today we are covering SpaceX Starship, Starlinks Record-Breaking Mission, Crew Dragon and Boeing Starliner updates. Loads to talk about in regard to Starship, but in addition to that, we’re talking about parachute systems for both the Crew Dragon as well as Boeing’s Starliner which has just had its pad abort test the other day. To top all this off, we have an actual SpaceX Falcon 9 launch happening very shortly with the upcoming Starlink mission. This is is going to break a few records as well.
SpaceX is about to initiate number of ground based tests on Starship Mk 1, in an effort to ready Starship Mk 1 for actual 22km sub-orbital test scheduled for later this month or in December. Starship Mk1 will undergo critical ground test phase, ranging from tank pressurization and propellant loading to the rocket’s first triple-Raptor engine static fire. The ground tests could happen later on today or sometimes this week. However increased in ground activity indicates tests could be hours away.
In this Episode, we will take another look at SpaceX's launch facility for the Starship Mark 1 Prototype in Boca Chica Texas. We will take a look at the increased footprint as well as the latest progress on the Starship prototype itself. Last but not least, by popular demand, we will take a look at what's known right now about SpaceX's schedule for the Crew Dragon Demo Mission 2.
SpaceX Starship Updates & Crew Dragon Passes Static Fire Test | SpaceX in the News Episode 64.
Today we look at current Starship updates in Boca Chica and Cocoa; recap this week's Starlink launch; investigate unfair deals between NASA and Boeing; catch up on Crew Dragon's successful static test; look at upcoming missions; and finish with an Honorable Mention.
Starship, SpaceX’s ambitious rocket under development, could have an underestimated effect on society’s interactions with space. The stainless steel rocket is currently in the prototyping phase, but when complete it’s set to unlock some of SpaceX’s most ambitious targets. It uses easier-to-harvest rocket fuel, which could create a planet-hopping network to the moon, Mars and beyond. It can also carry over 100 tons or 100 people into orbit at once, meaning humans can send more into space than ever before.
Boca Chica Road Closures: Primary Closure - Moved to Sunday 17th November
Crew Dragon Static Fire Test - November 13th
Starlink-1 - November 11th
Milestones:
First time to fly the same booster 4 times. First Re-Flight of a fairing. 60 more satellites launched Heaviest payload to date Satellites 100% demisable
Upgrades to satellites made - 400% increase in data throughput Attempt to catch both payload fairing using GO Ms. Chief and Go Ms. Tree cancelled due to rough seas.
In this Episode, we will take a look at the progress done on the SpaceX Starship Prototype in Boca Chica Texas. The canard fins are almost done and the Launch Facility is progressing at a crazy pace. Last but not least, we will have a look at the launch preparations going on right now for the Starlink v1-1 launch!
SpaceX Starship May Fly for Just $2 Million Per Mission, Elon Musk Says.
SpaceX’s goal has long been to achieve truly reusable rocket launch capabilities, and for good reason: The company anticipates huge cost savings through re-usable rocketry versus expendable launch vehicles, which SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has described as a process akin to an airline throwing away their passenger aircraft every time they complete a flight. They’ve made lots of progress toward that goal, and now frequently re-fly parts of their Falcon 9 rockets and their Dragon cargo capsules — but the Starship spaceship they’re building now should be even more re-usable.
Each flight of this SpaceX's big Mars-colonizing spacecraft will have a very small price tag, if all goes according to plan.
