If having the right tools didn’t matter, we’d all brush our teeth with hammers. No-brainer decisions between hammers and toothbrushes are nice, but life doesn’t work like that. If you believe Google (as we all do), you can end up with over 30 different hammers for one basic function—nail—in. Choosing which eLearning course development tool to use gets even crazier, with hundreds of different products on the market all basically doing the same thing—information—in. So, here’s the lowdown on some of the course authoring tools we use for niche audiences and why, as well as some useful insider video tutorials thrown in.

Download Links is a free Firefox add-on to download MP3, PDF, DOC, MP4, JPG, GIF, PNG, TXT, and other files from a webpage. Its pop-up shows the different file types available in a webpage and lets you select file types of your choice. After that, you can see total number of files to download and then save them to PC.

Augmented reality–a technology that uses a trigger image to superimpose digital content over a user’s view of the real world–is growing in popularity and accessibility, and it holds a wealth of potential for education.
Often described as “QR codes on steroids,” the technology offers new and exciting ways for students to interact with lessons, said Jeff Peterson, an instructional technologist in the Lamar Consolidated ISD in Texas. Peterson presented a TCEA 2017 session on augmented reality’s application in classrooms.
Augmented reality-based apps infuse more engagement into learning exercises, and students often grasp complex concepts quickly with interactive content, said Peterson, referencing Drew Minock, an advocate for augmented reality in the classroom and outreach manager at augmented reality company Daqri.

Educators need to decide which tool is best for them. If you want to create your own animation from scratch, then you want to go to sites such as Animwork. If you want to select from an animation that’s already set up, for you then perhaps Explainia makes more sense.
One of the easiest ways to animate, however, isn’t with your own camera and modeling clay, it’s with your links to sites that hand you everything within their own forums.
Use the first part of this list for creating original animation or using animation tools to create lessons. Use the second part to select animated lessons that are already completed and set to share.

The world of Instructional Design has evolved over the years. Influences from various learning theory movements like behaviorism, cognitivism, and social learning have constructed a foundation which acts as pillars of successful approaches. While each theory includes specific focal points with regards to how learning occurs—either by behavioral response or knowledge acquisition—they have contributed unique perspectives on learning as a whole and are responsible for how the field of Instructional Design has changed over time.
