A Beginner's Guide to "Train the Trainer" Courses —

A Beginner's Guide to "Train the Trainer" Courses — | HR - Tracks | Scoop.it

One of the many goals of any good company should be its staff's progressive training and encouragement. A business is nothing without its employees, and treating those employees well helps to foster loyalty and productivity.

Zig Ziglar, the motivational speaker, often encountered the question many business owners have:

"What if we invest in training our employees, and they leave?"

After all, investing in your employees is just that; an investment. If they leave, they take their skills and knowledge with them.

Zig's response was;
"What if you don't train them, and they stay?"

James Schreier's insight:

Because of a very strong personal choice/passion, I never developed nor taught a workshop on a subject I didn't really like -- in many cases love presenting.  Each of the many, many workshops I taught was special for its own unique reasons.  Train-the-Trainer programs were definitely unique.  I loved teaching supervisors and managers how to provide training to their frontline employees.  But what was really special is that part of these programs was the fact that I got to be trained by my participants in so many things.  From movie theatres to casinos to bankers in Kazakhstan, these programs were definitely special.

"The recommendations of this assessment will be taken into account to build a long-term, sustainable and positive culture at Better."

James Schreier's insight:

Part III -- Surprised only by the fact that it happened this fast.  Impressed but the action to thoroughly assess both the leadership and the culture.  I've done these types of assessments for many organizations -- strongly endorsed!

The Biggest Cliché in HR –

The Biggest Cliché in HR – | HR - Tracks | Scoop.it
Have you ever heard a leader say, “Our people are our greatest asset”? Maybe you’ve said it yourself. Some part of you may have even believed it.  I’m a huge fan of irony, and in these few words the irony is rich. The very comparison of people to other corporate assets — physical, financial, technical, etc. — dehumanizes them. It demonstrates precisely the lack of regard for individuals that this platitude is intended to alleviate.  If people were indeed the greatest asset of an organization, leaders would treat them very differently. In the vast majority of organizations, people are not

2022 Workforce-Workplace Forecast--Part 2

2022 Workforce-Workplace Forecast--Part 2 | HR - Tracks | Scoop.it
The COVID Pandemic has taken a toll on the psyches of workers around the world. From the additional stresses of remote work to the discomfort of mask-wearing to the fear of contracting this deadly disease---not to mention the challenges of dealing with homeschooling and lack of affordable childcare, employees have had to deal with more issues over the previous 2-1/2 years than ever before. Mentally, many are in uncharted territory and feel like they have no GPS, no roadmaps, not even a compass to guide them. They need help and they need it now. I expect to see unprecedented use of EAPs and other avenues for handling mental health issues. But wait, there's more. .

1. The Great Resignation Continues
Although hundreds of thousands of people are being hired monthly, an increasing number of workers are choosing to leave their jobs---many long-tenured employees who are feeling under-appreciated. That is very bad news for their employers for a few reasons; some of those reasons are covered in his Alert and others in the next one (Part 2). In general terms, employers are losing intellectual capital and internal and external customer service (see #4).
