Arsenal drops plans for major expansion of Emirates Stadium

Arsenal has opted against a major redevelopment of Emirates Stadium in favour of a “continued evolution” of the venue.

Earlier this year, co-chairman Josh Kroenke revealed that Arsenal was “putting together a plan” to renovate Emirates Stadium following the club’s first Premier League title win since 2004.

The stadium opened in July 2006 and has a capacity of 60,704. Arsenal currently has a season ticket waiting list of more than 100,000 people.

October 2 – Manchester City should face the “appropriate consequences” if wrongdoing is established, a spokesperson for British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said on Thursday, clarifying earlier remarks from the PM.  Burnham’s remarks came as club the formally appealed the independent commission’s verdict saying that the ruling contained “clear material errors, of law, principle and fact and is unsafe”. Still claiming that they are innocent of breaking the financial regulation, the club said it had filed “a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence [that] exists in support of all of its positions”

September 30 – The Premier League has confirmed that Manchester City have been found guilty of more than 100 charges of breaches of Premier League financial rules between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons. An independent Commission found that Manchester City arranged ‘sham’ contracts (which misrepresented the true agreement between the parties) with a number of its commercial partners, as well as relying on ‘sham’ agreements with others, to artificially inflate the club’s revenues and reduce its costs.
