Depuis deux ans, l’Internet mobile se développe de manière exponentielle. On estime même que d’ici 2015, la majorité des connexions se feront par l’intermédiaire d’un appareil mobile. En France, les territoires ont massivement investi dans le développement des applications et des sites mobiles, et cette tendance se poursuit. Au premier trimestre 2011, on recensait 15 000 applications dans la catégorie Voyages de l’Apple Store. Plus de 600 applications sont consacrées aux territoires en France, dont une centaine éditées par les offices de tourisme ainsi que les comités départementaux et régionaux du tourisme.
