The Problem with EdX: a MOOC by any other name? | Connectivism | Scoop.it

Since it started last fall, I’ve heard the 36-week experimental #change11 course referred to – half tongue-in-cheek – as “the Mother of All MOOCs.”

Howard Rheingold & Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach talk passion-based learning, teaching teachers, and connectivism | | Connectivism | Scoop.it

This week, noted educator, author, and thought leader Howard Rheingold interviewed PLP co-founder Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach to answer this question: As digital media and networks make possible more networked and collaborative pedagogies, who teaches the teachers how to take advantage of the opportunities (and avoid the pitfalls) that new technologies afford?

Half an Hour: The Rise of MOOCs | Connectivism | Scoop.it

What makes the MOOC offered by George Siemens and myself different was that it was a distributed course. This is what enabled the 'massive' part of 'Massive Open Online Course'. The software developed to support the course - called gRSShopper, written by myself - was designed to enable the use of open educational resources (OERs) and to aggregate student contributions nwritten using their own weblog environment (and later, discussion boards, Twitter, Facebook, Delicious, and more).

Communications & Society: Writing the Rhizome | Connectivism | Scoop.it

Okay, for the sake of discussion, let's just accept that my last post is correct and that a network view of knowledge is indeed part of the DNA of connectivism. Let's even assume that this distinguishes connectivism from constructivism, cognitivism, and behaviorism as learning theories. Is this such a big deal?
