It also reviews the role of potassium binders in managing hyperkalemia. TARGET AUDIENCE This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of U.S. community-based nephrologists, primary care physicians, internal medicine physicians, nutritionists, renal dieticians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants involved in the management of patients with hyperkalemia. LEARNING OBJECTIVES Assess the benefits and disadvantages associated with the potassium-restricted diet recommended for the management of patients with hyperkalemia Justify the utility of healthy plant-rich diets for the management of patients with hyperkalemia Interpret data from clinical trials supporting the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of potassium binders for the management of hyperkalemia in patients with chronic kidney disease, heart failure, and hypertension ACCREDITATION STATEMENT Med Learning Group is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
