I am listening to RFK testify to the House Ways and Means Committee. He just stated that the Hepatitis B vaccine was not studied against a placebo. This is not a true statement. Here is the chart in the original study in the New England Journal of Medicine that was a placebo controlled trial proving benefit and safety comparing placebo to vaccine. That Aaron Siri, a Kennedy ally and top lawyer for a group known for suing over vaccine safety and mandates, has criticized Schwartz in a post on X, by saying she “would likely be a disaster,” shows that Schwartz is clearly not liked by the anti-vaxxers.
He wrote: “Schwartz led nationwide Covid-19 vaccine deployment and her long track record of directly issuing rights-crushing civilian and military vaccine mandates, including mandating injection of smallpox, anthrax, and flu vaccines into U.S. Forces, and [disciplining] those that refused, reflects she lacks the basic ethics and morals to lead the CDC.”

We knew all of such would be either a ton of BS from RFK Jr or a blood bath by the Democrats and the physicians-politicians from the GOP.

TikTok knows exactly how much time it takes to get you addicted to their algorithm : 35 minutes.

According to internal documents revealed in a lawsuit, a user is likely to become addicted after 260 videos.

At 8 seconds per video, that's ~35 minutes.

We only know this because of a legal accident. In 2024, 14 US attorneys general sued TikTok for deliberately addicting teenagers.

In one of the lawsuits, the redactions were faulty and 30 pages of internal documents became public.

What they revealed is hard to read.

TikTok's own research found that “compulsive usage correlates with loss of analytical skills, memory formation, contextual thinking, conversational depth, empathy, and increased anxiety”.

They knew, they documented it and chose to keep building anyway.

Instead of trying to reduce screen time among teenagers, they built time-management tools to improve "public trust in the TikTok platform via media coverage."

The tobacco industry used the same playbook for 40 years, they called it "problematic use" too and tried to shift responsibility to the consumers.

But we now have the documents, and the courts are starting to use them.

TikTok is not an isolated case: Meta, YouTube and others use the same logic. They all have the same type of internal documents, and make the same choice everyday.

When an entire market is designed to exploit human cognitive weaknesses at scale, it’s no longer a market in the economic sense (ie optimal allocation of resources and best benefits for consumers), it’s just a predatory system.

I now call it « predatory design ».

Of course, regulation is necessary. But laws are not enough alone, and fines cannot undo a decade of engineered addiction.

The only answer to a systemic problem is a systemic solution: technology that puts human autonomy back at the center of digital design.

We need Human Safety Tech, to protect all citizens and especially the youngest, that are more vulnerable.

Non, la désinformation vaccinale n’est pas née avec Facebook. Elle existait déjà en 1890.

L’été dernier, en visitant le Science Museum de Londres, je suis tombée sur un tract anti-vaccination datant de la fin du XIXᵉ siècle.

À l’époque, la cible était la vaccination contre la variole, une maladie qui a tué des centaines de millions de personnes dans l’histoire humaine.

Déjà, on y retrouvait :
✓ des discours alarmistes
✓ des arguments pseudo-scientifiques
✓ la dénonciation d’un prétendu complot médical
✓ et la mise en scène de “grands experts” alternatifs

Mais, ce qui m’a le plus frappée, c’est que l’entrée à la conférence coûtait 6 shillings.
La désinformation était déjà un business.

On payait pour écouter les “gourous” de l’époque expliquer pourquoi il ne fallait pas se faire vacciner contre la variole.

Ce qui a changé aujourd’hui, ce n’est pas la mécanique.
C’est la vitesse. Et l’échelle.

Avec les réseaux sociaux :
- la diffusion est instantanée
- l’audience est mondiale
- la viralité est algorithmique
- la monétisation est décuplée

Les ressorts psychologiques, eux, sont les mêmes : peur, méfiance, sentiment d’appartenance, défiance envers les élites.

Comprendre que ces mouvements existent depuis plus de 130 ans permet de prendre du recul.
Ce n’est pas une anomalie de notre époque.

Je trouve fascinant, et un peu inquiétant, de constater que les débats actuels ont des échos presque mot pour mot dans des documents du XIXᵉ siècle.

Comme quoi, l’histoire se répète sans cesse.

🔄 Phased PCV10→PCV13 pathways can reduce costs while maintaining impact

While delaying introduction may ease short-term budget pressure, it comes with substantial losses in both health impact and long-term economic value.

RFK Jr. on the Worst US Measles Outbreak in 35 Years:
"This has nothing to do with me. Mennonites have not vaccinated since 1796."
Wrong on both counts:

1. Historical records show that Mennonite communities were vaccinating their children against smallpox as early as 1809, and the modern Mennonite church does NOT oppose vaccination. In the words of Mennonite Church USA, "As a denomination, MC USA does not request vaccine exemptions for our members on behalf of our religious beliefs. Measles can lead to serious complications, illnesses and death, especially among the most vulnerable. Vaccines approved by the Food and Drug Administration have been proven to be safe and the most effective way to prevent measles."

2. While the west Texas measles outbreak started in a Mennonite community in Gaines County, it quickly spread to other counties and communities, without regard to religion. Since then, the United States has experienced measles outbreaks in almost every state, totaling more than 4,000 illnesses, 340 hospitalizations and 3 deaths. US communities experiencing outbreaks have one thing in common, and it is not religion: it is low vaccination rates.

3. For 20 years, RFK Jr. has been the most prominent anti-vaccine activist in the world. Contrary to his claims, he is not merely a "vaccine skeptic" who wants "safer vaccines." Instead, he has consistently opposed ALL vaccines, stating "There’s no vaccine that is safe and effective" and "I see somebody on a hiking trail carrying a little baby and I say to him, better not get them vaccinated.” Kennedy has disseminated these views to millions of people through countless media interviews, speaking engagements, podcasts, books, films, most recently with the imprimatur of the US Department of Health and Human Services. Kennedy claiming that measles outbreaks caused by low vaccination levels have "nothing to do with me" is like the Tobacco Institute claiming that lung cancer has nothing to do with them.

Bottlenecks in the system and parent’s suspicions mean doctors expect another serious outbreak soon.

“Parents listening to him are actually not being allowed informed consent because they are being scared and guided with misinformation!”

This is the crux of the problem with RFK Jr. He scares new parents about vaccines because he truly believes they are toxic and harmful.

This piece argues that science communication and policy literacy are still treated as optional in graduate training, even as misinformation shapes public understanding of vaccines, genetics, climate, and health. The author is right, but the problem extends well beyond STEM.

Health services research exists to answer a specific question: what works, for whom, and at what cost? Unfortunately, that evidence only matters if it reaches the people making decisions, including policymakers, practitioners, and patients. If researchers cannot explain their findings clearly, someone else will explain them badly.

We've built a training pipeline that rewards publication, but treats public engagement as a side project. That made more sense when the path from evidence to policy ran through a smaller set of institutions. It makes much less sense now, when a short-form video can shape more beliefs about a health intervention than a peer-reviewed paper ever will.

This isn't about turning researchers into influencers. It's about recognizing that the ability to communicate evidence clearly, in the places where people actually form beliefs, is a core scientific competency. The vaccine debate has become too ideological to remain clinical.

In high-risk adults, vaccination is not only about preventing infection. It is also about reducing the external biological stress that can trigger MI, stroke, heart failure worsening, and hospitalization.

That is why adult vaccination should stop being treated as a side note in cardiometabolic care.
