Ways to Use Facebook for Your Job Search | Resumebear Online Resume | 212-Careers | Scoop.it

85% of job seekers say they have weak interview skills

Here's a roadmap to ace your next job interview:

(Grab the hi-res interview PDF here: https://lnkd.in/eHD_uPQw)

It's totally normal if interviews freak you out.
It's a lot of pressure to show your value quickly.
They're strategic conversations... treat them that way.

The key is to prepare well without sounding like a robot. Meep morp.

Create bullets.
Practice a bit.
But don't over-rehearse.

Here's how to ace your next interview:

1/ Pre-research is detective work
↳ Dig deep to uncover the real problems you can solve for this company

2/ Phone screens are value auditions
↳ Use those first minutes to quickly demonstrate why you're worth their continued investment

3/ Virtual setups are professional branding
↳ Every detail from lighting to background communicates your attention to excellence

4/ Panel interviews are team chemistry tests
↳ Show each interviewer how you'd specifically support and collaborate with their role

5/ Your questions are consulting previews
↳ Ask strategic questions that reveal how you think about solving business challenges

6/ Salary talks are business negotiations
↳ Frame compensation discussions around the mutual value you'll create together

7/ Body language is trust building
↳ Use genuine engagement and mirroring to create authentic connection with interviewers

8/ Answer structure shows clear thinking
↳ Use frameworks like STAR to show how you process and solve complex problems

9/ Story preparation is your impact portfolio
↳ Build a collection of concrete examples that prove your ability to deliver results

(Grab my hi-res interview PDF here: https://lnkd.in/eHD_uPQw)

Great interviews happen when you stop performing.
Start problem-solving before you get the job.

What's your biggest struggle in the interview process?

A Few Things I've Changed My Mind On

I’m increasingly convinced that the willingness to change your mind is the ultimate sign of intelligence.

The most impressive people I know change their minds often in response to new information or evidence. It's not that they lack conviction in their beliefs, but more so that they've developed enough self-awareness to understand what it would take to change them.
James Schreier's insight:

I could argue for each one of these being the "most" important -- but then again, I easily find #3, Allow Silence, as the one that stood out for me immediately.
