Recently Mike Lieberman advised folks to “go ahead and get rid of that ‘Company News’ section.” Lieberman wrote that in response to an analytical report compiled by Chris Scott of Headscape — more accurately, Lieberman gave his advice based on reading Paul Boag’s post about Scott’s report. To be fair, there is no readily available copy of Scott’s report. But that still doesn’t account for some errors in critical thinking.

Getting Organized & Recharging In The New Year

Getting Organized & Recharging In The New Year | You Call It Obsession & Obscure; I Call It Research & Important | Scoop.it

The New Year means resolutions (and spending that holiday gift cash). If you're like me, one of your resolutions is to get more organized and make your home more enjoyable to live in. After all, for the next few weeks (if not months!), we'll all be nestled inside the house, and while we have lots more to do inside now than we once did, all the electronics and entertainment stuff can make your home full of annoying distractions too. Like all those loops of cable wires and cords that every device needs.

Padding Your Bra With Emotions

Padding Your Bra With Emotions | You Call It Obsession & Obscure; I Call It Research & Important | Scoop.it

Can't find enough reasons to hate your bra? You will soon: Microsoft is working on a smart bra to measure your mood:

The prototype contains removable sensors that monitor heart and skin activity to provide an indication of mood levels.

The aim was to find out if wearable technology could help prevent stress-related over-eating.

Deanna Dahlsad's insight:

I'm sooooo not into this technology.

Laura Brown's comment, January 4, 2014 8:08 PM
This is right up there with men who think women should be taking pills to "improve" their sex drive. Maybe the bra can come with little coloured flags that pop up in the middle of the cleavage? How has the human race managed to continue to reproduce up until now?
Laura Brown's comment, January 4, 2014 8:09 PM

Have Tech Gadgets; Will Travel (But How Long Will They Last?)

Have Tech Gadgets; Will Travel (But How Long Will They Last?) | You Call It Obsession & Obscure; I Call It Research & Important | Scoop.it

The simple math is that there are at least five devices but only two plugs on the car charger. But let's face it; as adults, our calls, email checks on our smartphones, use of Pandora, etc. are necessary. And we parents insist that our phones must be kept charged in case of, you know (*knock on wood*), an actual emergency. Knowing that giving one child the gift of recharging means we need to give the other children the same help makes us a bit reluctant to open that whole can of worms.

So, facing another trip back home for the holidays, I was excited when the folks at Powerocks offered to send one of their latest creations, a pocket-sized mobile charger to review. ...But could it be too good to be true?

I have a modest collection of vintage vanity items. (My collection and I have even been featured in Collectors News magazine.) Create A Casual Vintage Holiday Table Centerpiece Using An Old Wooden Drawer

Create A Casual Vintage Holiday Table Centerpiece Using An Old Wooden Drawer | You Call It Obsession & Obscure; I Call It Research & Important | Scoop.it

As I’ve said before, I like useful collectibles — and, because I don’t like anything to go to waste, I like to find new ways to make use of old things. Just because something is “old and just laying around,” doesn’t mean it can’t be salvaged or re-purposed. Like the vintage refrigerator crisper drawers, I knew these old wooden desk drawers I’d found could do something new and fabulous… Worn, paint-chippy wood is so charming!

Immediately, I thought of the holidays and the need for low centerpieces which wouldn’t get in the way of seeing family and friends.

Deanna Dahlsad's insight:

There's still time to make this for the holiday!
