Une étude récente, publiée dans la revue PNAS, s'intéresse à l'impact du climat sur la productivité de l'agriculture américaine. Pour ce faire, des chercheurs américains et chinois ont mesuré, entre 1951 et 2010, les corrélations entre les variations climatiques régionales et celles de la productivité totale des facteurs (PTF), un indicateur de la productivité nationale. Cet indicateur permet de mesurer les évolutions de la production agricole qui ne dépendent pas des intrants (travail et capital). Ils ont également estimé, à l'aide de scénarios de changement climatique, la productivité agricole future des États-Unis.
