"Mount San Antonio, also known as Mt Baldy, at 10,068 ft (3,069 m), is the highest peak in the San Gabriel Mountains, and the highest point in Los Angeles County. Photo of the Day: Perito Moreno Glacier in Los Glaciers National Park | Trekking | Scoop.it

"One of the greatest glaciers we visited in Patagonia was Perito Moreno Glacier in Glaciers National Park near El Calafate, Argentina. Boats allow you to get up close and gain a better perspective of the glacier’s size and structure. Large crevasses reach deep into the ice field, but continually fall off as the glacier slowly slides. The crushed mountain gravel produced from the glacier’s sliding eventually deposits into the water creating a cloudy turquoise color."

Hiking to the San Jacinto Summit from the Tram | Trekking | Scoop.it

"About a year ago a couple friends and I set out to hike to the San Jacinto Summit from where the tram lets out. Without much research we went into it thinking this would be a pretty simple hike as the tram drops you off at 8500 feet and the summit is only 10500; however, this hike is actually pretty difficult, but it is rewarding to finish and provides stunning views."

Hiking Bumpass Hell: Lassen Volcanic National Park

Hiking Bumpass Hell: Lassen Volcanic National Park | Trekking | Scoop.it

"Bumpass hell is named after Kendall Vanhook Bumpass who stumbled on this area in the late 1800′s while he was hiking. It is named Bumpass Hell because he actually fell in one of the steam geysers and ended up losing a leg. The area itself is a geothermal area that has many steam vents that continuously pour out steam and sulfur gases from the molten lava that is running 5 miles under this area and the forest ranger there told us some of the water is so acidic it is like stomach acid. Read on for photos and a recap on the hike."
