So, one of the most important ways we can prevent COVID-19 spread (apart from social distancing) is making sure we wash our hands often and avoid touching our face. According to statistics, humans touch their face 16 times an hour on average. It is a habit many of us have and we don’t even notice it most of the time. So, in this article we will quickly make a convenient device that can remind us that we should avoid touching our face right before we do it. If we are stuck at home, you’ll relieve yourself from boredom for an hour or two :)

According to the latest guideline on the diagnosis and treatment of the novel coronavirus released by the National Health Commission, the virus is sensitive to ultraviolet light and heat, so ultraviolet radiation can effectively eliminate the virus.

The problem with ultraviolet light is that it irritates the skin and increases the chances of getting skin cancer.
Precisely for this reason, through an Arduino Nano and some sensors and transducers, we can create a PCB capable of controlling a UV lamp to cause it to kill the virus without, however, turning it on with ourselves in the vicinity. In this way we will protect our skin.

This tutorial will show you my method for designing the internal connectors, or solids needed to build complex polyhedrals: More specifically the Truncated Icosidodecahedron. I use Fusion 360 for the 3D design, and Adobe Illustrator for the face design. You will need access to a 3D printer to make the connectors, and a laser cutter to make the faces. I personally use a Lulzbot TAZ Pro 6 as my 3D printer, and a Glowforge for the laser cutter, but you can use pretty much any 3D printer and laser cutter.

I've recently been doing some jeans repairs, and this has left me with various scraps of denim, as well as some jeans that have seen better days. I've been wondering about what to do with this fabric, and one of my ideas was to make a 'topographical' style map, making use of the different shades of denim.

A topographic map is a simplified map showing the relief of an area of land, usually in the form of contour lines.

I created my own pattern of countour lines, but you could base yours on an actual area of land, or a series of hills/mountains.

I have this huge 11ft-wide empty wall in my apartment and for the longest time I struggled with ideas of what to put up on it. I've always wanted to cut out a basic world map on the CNC out of wood...but the idea was cemented when I heard about using natural moss. From there, the project snowballed into a rabbit hole of complexity with adding back-lighting and arduino-controlled LED lights passing through through fiber optic filaments acting as the cities (as seen from space at night). While I took a more complex route, this project could be scaled down and made more simply with cardboard and Christmas lights. Thanks for reading and coming along with me for the journey!

This project started when my girlfriend was complaining about the large empty feature wall of our new apartment. Since we both decided to hang something up there, I knew I wanted to put something of my own design up there. But what I kept finding is that most require either expensive tools such as 3D printers and CNC routers, or items that are highly specific to their design like old lamp shades or car bumpers for example.

I have many of these great tools available to me since I am a development engineer in heavy industry. But I wanted to challenge myself and build the most Super Simple WiFi RGB LED Lamp that anyone can build. I wanted to create a design that anyone can not only replicate, but modify with ease with minimal tools and resources available to them.
