February 18 – The proposed overhaul of Lazio’s Stadio Flaminio will carry a projected price tag of €480 million, with ambitions for the ground to stage its first fixture in 2032.
Claudio Lotito, president of SS Lazio, presented the plans last week, setting out a redevelopment that would more than double the stadium’s current 20,000 capacity to 50,750.
“It’s not just a construction project, it’s a vision,” Lotito said.

January 22 – Real Madrid remain the financial benchmark in world football, finishing top of Deloitte’s latest Football Money League as the game’s biggest clubs pushed revenues to a new high.
The Money League table lays out the combined total of €12.4bn in revenue generated by the top 20 clubs across the 2024/25 season – an increase of 11% on the previous year. Deloitte point to three main income streams to explain the growth.

April 10 – Deloitte predicts that global revenues in women’s elite sports will reach at least US$3 billion (£2.2 billion) for the first time in 2026. This represents a 25% increase on the US$2.4 billion value generated in 2025.
Deloitte bases its numbers on matchday, broadcast, and commercial revenues. Commercial revenue – including sponsorships, partnerships and merchandising sales – is where Deloitte sees the largest share of revenues at 45% – a similar share to 2025 (46%).

January 29 – FIFA has released in annual report of global transfer spending, with transactions in the transfer market topping €10 billion for the first time – a sign that football’s economic profile continues to expand.
The 2025 Global Transfer Report shows that more than 86,000 international transfers were completed across the men’s and women’s game in 2025 — the highest figure recorded.

January 22 – The Swiss Canton of Vaud that had a motion before its Tuesday night Grand Council meeting calling for the revoking of UEFA’s tax exemption in the region, did not manage to progress its meeting agenda to the point of a vote. The motion is an attempt to bring pressure on UEFA to suspend the Israeli FA (IFA).
With the Vaud meeting running long, a number of agenda items at the end of the schedule were carried over to the next Vaud meeting of MPs next Tuesday.

January 20 – Taking a leaf out of US president Donald Trump’s international diplomacy model, pro-Palestine supporters aim to bring pressure on UEFA to suspend the Israeli Football Association (IFA) by hitting the confederation where they believe it hurts most – at the bank.
Today (Tuesday) Swiss local parliamentarians in the Canton of Vaud will vote on revoking UEFA’s tax exemption. UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon are within the Vaud canton.
The argument behind the resolution is that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled that Israel is illegally occupying Palestinian land in the West Bank. Read more …
