I like starting off the new year with an early morning walk camera in hand to see what compositional gems I might find in the residue from the previous night's festivities. This year my camera choice was a no-brainer. It was the same camera I have been grabbing for all such occasions where I want the freedom of a small and light system coupled with the versatility of a wide assortment of focal lengths and excellent optics. That boiled down to a Fuji X-E2 and two zooms, the 18-55mm and 55-200mm -- easy enough to stick one on the camera and the other in a jacket pocket.

Overall, the FUJINON XF 23mm ƒ/1.4 outperforms the X100S in my tests. This is to be expected given the lens retails for 70% of what the X100S does at the time of writing. The X100S holds its own though and things like the built-in ND filter, leaf shutter, and close-focus capabilities might make it worth taking over, or in addition to the 23/1.4. My X100S won’t be going anywhere.

A few months ago I shot with famed fit couple Brandan Fokken and his lovely fiancee Amber Dawn Orton. Actually, I shot with them at the same time I shot with my other client, Adam Bisek.

"Smaller is better" and "SLRs are big" and "prisms suck" and "humping sucks" and so on are slung around at Fujifilm fan sites. I wonder if that crowd have ever used an SLR from, say, the 1970's or 80's. The Fujifilm X-Pro 1 happens to be the same size as my Nikon FE, a regular-sized SLR camera. In fact, it is an SLR camera that was never considered that compact or small. People who valued compact cameras turned it down in favour of other cameras, like the Nikon EM.

"ISO 12,800 on the Fuji X-E1 and XF 14mm" My next camera will not be a DSLR. There, got it out of my system and I start this review with a ridiculous ISO setting that I would never have used before now.

Don't worry! By pimping I don't mean that you need to add neon or a subwoofer to the X-Pro 1 ;) When I say pimping I'm talking about what I did to increase speed and usability of my X-Pro 1.

The Fujifilm X100s was a joint purchase Mat and I made when we first began Mirrorlessons. Along with the OM-D E-M5, it is probably the one camera we've talked about the most. And yet, I've oddly sp...

Have I stopped dragging all my kit with me? Nope. Now I drag all my kit plus the X-Pro1 and it’s two lenses. This is not because the X-Pro1 can’t perform (because it really can), it’s just because I am who I am, giant bag of camera kit and all. That being said, it’s been my only camera a few times and I have loved using it.

This camera is not aimed at pro's or higher level photographers like myself, and they would be pixel peeping and judging it against the higher-end cameras. I felt that was unjust to the camera. So what I did for this review, was handing it to my cousin...

By letting us have that option, AF point selection via the Fn key, it assures the experience of the newer viewfinder X series cameras is retroactive to the camera that forever changed your destiny in photography – the Fuji X100. Happy New Year Fujifilm.

This is not a gear review site - I have neither the time nor the money to test every new gadget that comes along. However, after weeks of deliberation and reading of such sites, I decided to buy myself a Fuji X100s, and in this post I'll share my impressions of this lovely little camera as well as some pictures I took with it in Moscow and Paternoster.

One thing that I see is just how similar the results are and at the very highest settings the A7r actually seems to produce marginally lower noise results in raw and jpg. files. Just shows how good that A7r sensor is.
