Mirrorless Year in Review - Admiring Light | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it
2013 has been a crazy year for the photography industry, and the mirrorless industry in particular. This is going to be a different type of roundup than I normally do. Instead of going in-depth on everything that happened in the industry, I’m going to touch base on what I feel are some of the most … Continue reading »

The X100S Silver vs. Black | Fuji vs. Fuji

The X100S Silver vs. Black | Fuji vs. Fuji | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it

Well folks, after extensive looking at the cameras, I can safely say the difference between the X100S silver and the X100S black is clear. The black one is black. Yep, that’s about it. So if you like black, as I do, the new X100S Black is the one to get. Otherwise, get a silver one! It’s really not old and busted at all and somehow feels more retro which is great if that’s your thing. Either way, you’ll have a fantastically versatile camera.

Olympus OM-D EM-1 Review

Olympus OM-D EM-1 Review | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it
Finally here it, is my take on the Olympus OM-D E-M1. I’ve been using the camera for roughly two months now and I am loving it. Earlier this year I also did a review on the Fuji X100s and people seemed to like it, that’s why I decided to write my second product review ever. But this time I…

Fuji vs. Fuji | FUJINON XF 10-24mm ƒ/4 Review

Fuji vs. Fuji | FUJINON XF 10-24mm ƒ/4 Review | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it

I have to admit that despite anticipating an ultra-wide option from FUJIFILM more than anything else, the announcement of the FUJIFILM X-T1 and getting my hands on the FUJINON XF 56mm ƒ/1.2 pushed the 10-24mm ƒ/4 down a couple places on the excitement scale. Now that I’ve had chance to use it though, my eagerness to shoot ultra-wide landscapes has returned.

Zero One Imaging:
Is removing the aliasing filter really such a smart idea?

Zero One Imaging:

Is removing the aliasing filter really such a smart idea? | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it
As both the megapixels counts of cameras and our expectations of acceptable resolution have grown the call has gone out in earnest, "dump the aliasing filter". I have recently come to the opinion that the dumping of the AA filter would be ill founded and there are far better ways to increase the clarity of your images.

Is this the world’s first Fujifilm X-T1 wedding photographs? | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it
I had the honour of shooting my wedding yesterday with a pre production Fujifilm X-T1. It was a very special day for me, not only was it my 200th wedding, it was also my first wedding without a Canon in my hand.I had the XT-1 since it's launch on Wednesday and decided to leave my Canon Mk3 and…

Love The Image – X Factor – With ‘Altitude’! | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it

Well, my little Fuji friend did me proud, achieving lovely sharp images in the most challenging conditions and capturing one of the fastest sports on earth. The handling was great, the 18-55mm lens was really versatile and totally outperformed it’s paper spec. Shooting speed, processing and writing speed was brilliant – and all at about -10 degrees. Yes, that’s not in the instruction book either!

Shooting in New York with the Olympus OMD-EM1 » Neil Buchan-Grant - The Blog

Shooting in New York with the Olympus OMD-EM1 » Neil Buchan-Grant - The Blog | Mirrorless Cameras | Scoop.it

In December 2013 I set sail for New York on the Queen Mary 2 with London print model Irina Sosnova, anOlympus OMD EM1 and a bag of lenses.

The weather was dreadful for most of the trip and we only managed to get out on the deck in the sunshine for about 15 very windy minutes. It was so windy Irina thought her eyelashes were going to come off and I’m sure onlookers were placing bets as to how long her flimsy silk dress would stay on her body! That said, we had good fun on the ship and I even won $120 on the bingo! beginners luck:)
