"I’m a huge fan of iPads. That’s been documented quite frequently on this site. I’ve advocated for more classrooms to adopt them and even given a few away to teachers. That being said, the new OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) Tablet, dubbed the XO-3, may very well be the answer to your interactive learning prayers. Here’s 5 reasons why..."

Well respected microphone manufacturer Blue is launching a new range of microphones aimed squarely at users of the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
Brainchild Corporation announced today that it will launch Achiever! for iPad at FETC in Florida later this month. Achiever! for iPad is designed for elementary and middle school students and has state specific and Common Core content available. Achiever! will be the first iPad application to deliver a full range of standards-based instruction and assessment on the iPad for Math and Language arts.
The Achiever! application for iPad marks the latest innovation from Brainchild.
- For each standard, students will take a pretest to establish their baseline scores.
- If scores are low, students can watch instructional videos and work through the program's study mode to improve proficiency.
- Study mode provides immediate feedback for incorrect answers and allows students to work through problems until they get the answer correct.
- Brainchild's patented GlobalSYNC technology allows student's work to be synced with online reports for data-driven instruction.

Stanford University got lots of attention for inviting the public to participate in a series of free online computer-science classes. One thing that’s drawn less notice is how some of the technologies that help facilitate those mega-classes are changing the experience for Stanford students learning the same subjects. Now a Stanford student is provoking a debate on those innovations, with a blog post critiquing the rigor and format of the “flipped classroom” teaching method deployed in his machine-learning course.

"I’d lay odds that most people, including myself, just use Google Image Search when they need to find an image. However, there might be instances when you want to use another tool — perhaps you’re a language teacher searching for just the right clip art or photography to illustrate a verb, maybe you have very young students and are concerned about what they might find on Google, possibly you’re particularly teaching about copyright issues, or you want your students to easily connect an image to a writing exercise and have them send an E-Card."

As you browse around Web sites on your iPad, or look at news stories with your favorite News Reader app… what do you do when you find a article that interests you? Shorter one, you most likely skim right through but for the longer and detailed posts are better left to read in detail later.
Most people, and that includes us, will send the article/link to our email so we can find the article later. Some readers will send the full article content in the email, others just send a headline and link. Later comes and you have to sift through the emails and usually you have to jump back online to get to the full content of the article.
The next time your in your favorite news reader, look in it’s Share options, you may find an option to ReadItLater.

PhotoPin Looks Good For Images January 6, 2012 by Larry Ferlazzo | 0 comments 1 PhotoPin is new search engine for Creative Commons images. It has a very nice interface, and I especially like it because you not only get the photos, but it also gives you the exact attribution to copy and paste.
