Sand made from recycled glass can be mixed with sediment to make a medium for plants to grow in. That can help with coastal restoration projects.

I am always excited whenever people introduce new ways to tackle contemporary environmental issues that have evidence to back it up as a solution. I know that glass is not usually recycled nationally and so having a use for them like replenishing coasts would be a revolutionary outcome! Cool find Dustin!

This will probably have negative effects on the children. Tree canopy is needed to help regulate temperature. A combination of extreme heat, lack of trees to regulate temperature, and a lack of shade will increase the risk of heat exhaustion/hyperthermia.

While drones cause problems of their own it does seem like this is a safe and could help with lower air pollution after fourth of July. Drones do also allow for more control of the figures.

The U.S. Marine Corps temporarily deployed a unit of drones to support Philippine maritime security efforts in the South China Sea where tensions are high between Manila and Beijing, USNI News has learned. DJI is facing an outright ban in the United States if an audit mandated by the National Defense Authorization Act doesn't take place.

Very interesting and concerning that the U.S. government seemed to almost purposefully do nothing and condense the audit to just a few weeks, weakening the chance for DJI to survive. It raises a few questions...

Interesting law! I feel it makes sense. It is not allowing anyone to disable drones, but it allows authorities to do it if deemed necessary. Given by what has been going on recently in National Parks where frequent drone flights are going unchallenged would allow authorities to prevent such disruptive behavior from occuring.

UM researchers are experimenting with using an automated drone to haze wildlife away from high-traffic areas on campus.

"Hazing – the use of nonlethal methods to dissuade animals from areas of high human activity – has long been a tool of wildlife managers. What is new, however, is the deployment of drones as the means for maintaining this harmony between people and animals."
I was unfamiliar of hazing as a means of preventing wildlife-human conflicts and I think it is ingenious to use drones for this means.

I guess I did not consider the fact that just because there is a government shutdown does not mean people stop going to the parks. That is insane that the frequency jumped from one drone sighting a week to five every day. I also think it is rather sketch that DJI used possibly illegally gained footage. Very questionable behavior.
