One of the neverending stories in the world of photography, is the Mac vs Windows debate. Well, this is not a fanboy post from either side to fuel that debate. This is a post for those looking for advice on how to get or build (DIY) a powerful workstation for editing photos in Photoshop CC,…

Decisions, decisions, DECISIONS If you are anywhere close to being an image maker as opposed to a snap shot taker then you already know that image processing software is a key part of what your images will become after they have been taken properly or maybe not so properly. The process is called post processing…

Occasionally I like to think out loud and note down my hopes and ideas for the next version of a particular piece of software. It’s not that I think a developer might actually read this and pick up on any of these points, but more as a fun little writing exerise. In this case, I want to talk about Lightroom, and what I would like to see in an updated version this year.

There's a giant myth that photo editing is a pain to do and not at all fun. Folks that say this are most likely not doing it right or giving it a chance.

Let's look at what makes a camera lens expensive because, to be honest, sometimes it's helpful to understand why some glass just costs the earth!?

Whenever I feel frustrated in life, it is because I have a feeling of inertia. I feel like I’m not developing or growing. This often happens in my photography. I keep taking the same type of photo over and over, and I become bored. I want to innovate, to create something new. I want to take my work to the next level— but how do I do that? I feel that it is important to have a sense of gratitude with the work that we’ve done. However if you really want to take your photography to the next level, you need to not be satisfied. Not being satisfied is what helped push the human race forward. If we were all satisfied with horses and carriages, we would never have developed electric cars and rocketships. I often look back at my old work (which I thought was great) — and then I wonder, “What was I thinking?”.....

By some (but not all) accounts, it’s been nearly twenty years since the cell-phone camera was invented on the fly—while technologist Phillippe Kahn awaited the arrival of a daughter—so to transmit a photo of the newborn to the world. Since that time, mobile photography has evolved into an omnipresent way of life and a multifaceted world view, with the proliferation of latest-generation mobile devices offering users more options and better quality than ever before.

We probably all have different little things that we worry about, pay attention to, freak-out about, mess-up, or are just plain old sensitive to in pictures we make. I probably have way too many that are fairly esoteric. For instance certain aspects of geometry. One thing I might be overly

I'm a sucker for short-form documentaries and analog photography, so when I came across Filmmaker David Drill's "Master of Camera," I had to watch. It's a very well-done story of camera repairman, Gian Luigi Carminati, who's been repairing cameras for almost sixty years.

I haven't seen anyone talk about VSCO X, which honestly, is quite surprising considering how big the platform is for photographers. It made me wonder if the invite only based program was a flop or if the invites are really for dedicated users only. Either way, I was intrigued and figured if
