Weed Man Matt Peters Looking to Make Documentary Film of His Effort to Save His Business in #NewtownPA

Weed Man Matt Peters Looking to Make Documentary Film of His Effort to Save His Business in #NewtownPA | Newtown News of Interest | Scoop.it
"I'm looking for an experienced videographer or documentary filmmaker who may be interested in following a unique story unfolding over the next several months," posted Matt Peters on FB.

"My fiancée and I are getting married on November 13, 2026, in Philadelphia. Roughly 60 days later, if things continue on their current course, I may be forced to leave the business location in Newtown PA that I've operated out of for nearly a decade.

"The situation involves the possible loss of our headquarters as surrounding redevelopment* moves forward, and it raises questions about small businesses, property rights, community history, and what can happen when local entrepreneurs find themselves up against well funded development interests.

"Whether the story ends with us finding a way to stay or having to move, I believe it's worth documenting. If you're a filmmaker, documentarian, or videographer looking for a compelling real world story, I'd love to have a conversation."

johnmacknewtown's insight:

*Matt is referring to the 203 N Sycamore St property - formerly Guru's Indian restaurant - that is being gutted and remade into an upscale restaurant. Many residents have told me that the design does not fit within the Newtown historic district despite the fact that HARB has endorsed the project.

Coincidently (?), the developer Adam Baratta has indicated that he wants to make a film documenting the history of the site.
