SpaceX Starlink Broadband Services in Mid-2020

SpaceX's Starlink division is on track to offer satellite-broadband service in the United States in mid-2020, the company’s president and chief operating officer Gwynne Shotwell said Oct. 22.
Getting there will require the company to launch six to eight batches of satellites, Shotwell told reporters during a media roundtable. SpaceX also has to finish the design and engineering of the user terminals, which is not a minor challenge, Shotwell acknowledged.
SpaceX’s proposed Starlink constellation of thousands of satellites, which are designed to orbit at low altitudes above the Earth and beam internet coverage to the surface below.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk posted two tweets that show he's testing the broadband service.
Elon Musk has a Starlink terminal at his house and he used it to send a tweet early on Oct. 22.
”Sending this tweet through space via Starlink satellite,” Elon Musk tweeted to his 29 million followers. Two minutes later, Musk sent a follow-up tweet that said, "Whoa, it worked!!"
In this video Engineering Today will discuss SpaceX’s plan to provide internet coverage with Starlink constellation as soon as mid-2020.
Let’s get started.

SpaceX wants to land Starship on the Moon before 2022, then do cargo runs for 2024 human landing | The NewSpace Daily | Scoop.it

Speaking at a quick series of interviews with commercial space companies at this year’s annual International Astronautical Congress, SpaceX president and COO Gwynne Shotwell shed a little more light on her company’s current thinking with regards to the mission timelines for its forthcoming Starship spacefaring vehicle. SpaceX next Crew Dragon SuperDraco static fire could happen next week

CREW DRAGON’S UPGRADED LAUNCH ESCAPE SYSTEM

SpaceX continues to make progress towards launching crews into orbit, but several critical tests remain before those plans can come to fruition. The company is developing the Crew Dragon spacecraft to transport crews to and from the International Space Station as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program.
SpaceX has posted a video showing the static fire test of a pod of Crew Dragon SuperDraco abort thrusters, indicating that the complex system has been successfully redesigned and upgraded to fix the faults that caused a Dragon capsule to explode in April 2019.
The capsule, known as SpaceX Crew Dragon, is SpaceX’s spacecraft to carry as many as seven people to the International Space Station and more.
In this video Engineering Today will discuss SpaceX's next Crew Dragon test which could happen next week. SpaceX preps upgraded Crew Dragon for the static-fire test. Why this test is a critical milestone for SpaceX after April explosion?
Let’s get into details.

SpaceX Starlink satellite network increasing to 42,000 satellites!?

Today we are talking about the SpaceX Starlink satellite network potentially increasing to 42,000 satellites. The new plans that have popped up over the last week are incredible. Back in May, SpaceX launched its first initial set of 60 Starlink communication satellites which was the first of the total proposed 12,000 satellites to be launched in upcoming years. Not only that, the next Starlink launch should be happening very soon with a schedule currently suggesting the next set to be launched in October. So no big deal right!? 12,000 satellites screaming around low Earth orbit at over 75,000 kilometers per hour. Well get this… apparently, 12,000 satellites is no longer adequate for SpaceX because new documents with the International Telecommunication Union have been filed looking to launch up to 30,000 additional Starlink satellites on top of the 12,000 already approved by the Federal Communications Commission. So wait…42,000 satellites!? Well over three times the number already approved and under construction.
