"I read your article regarding double-barreled first names. What if both names are generally unknown in English? My two-part first name is Tsu Jiang. Although I like “Tsujiang,” I've found that people just stare at it in silence without even trying to pronounce it. I'm called Jiang in school and sign my name that way, but I want Tsu in my official first name -- though I don't want to be called Tsu by itself."
"How popular are names that are inspired by a compass? I take a look at the name North in response to Kim and Kanye's baby name news, as well as other directional celebrity choices over on Name Candy."
"For this week's Nameberry 9, Abby Sandel of Appellation Mountain has no problem finding a full complement of outlandish names. Not only North West, but Buttercup, Cisco, Quinoa and more."
I feel like I have accomplished something finally. The post which covers outlandish names mentions me here: Buttercup – Could this be a great middle? Ebsie has Eloise Buttercup May on her shortlis...

"Happy supermoon weekend! 2013's biggest, brightest moon rose this Saturday, inspiring new parents around the world. A supermoon happens when our moon both is full and reaches its perigee, or its closest point to Earth in its orbit."
"These days, a lot of people want their twins names to have some sort of connection. Anagram names are a good way to do that. Not every anagram set is a good one though. Heaven and Nevaeh are too matchy, but Blair and Libra aren't the same style. Or you love Nora, but hate the spelling Aron. I have compiled a list of the best anagram names for twins, based mostly off of style. Are there any others you like?"
Clare's insight:
Anagrams never cease to astound me. I especially like those where the names don't sound too similar and both have a standard spelling (such as Alice and Celia, Caroline and Cornelia). I'll throw in Amy, May and Mya for good measure.
For more anagram names, search by the tag "anagram" on this site.
"My siblings and I each had then-unusual names with Jewish roots, which to me implicitly signaled two things: We were unusual people, and we were Jewish people. Each of us still takes pride in both of those things. Our names were not chosen exclusively for how they looked on the page, or how they meshed with our last names. They were chosen as expressions of who we were, and who our parents hoped we would become."

"While some Brits will tell you that the names published in the London Telegraph aren't exactly the norm (most are children of upper-class families); they're still cool, and quintessentially British. Multiple middle names, a general disregard for syllable flow, vintage paired with nouveau...and I love it."

Let's have another recent post from Nifty Names. Isn't it strange how there are just a few random (or are they?) names that haven't caught on yet across the pond?

Oh, not you. Your baby's name is great! But you know who I'm talking about. (You.) (Just kidding.) (Wow, that person picked a stupid baby name.)

Lanksy is unimpressed. Fair point about the tired list of "wacky" celebrity names that get trotted out on such occasions.
