Recently I’ve found that using an interactive AI prompt to guide this process can be really beneficial as it helps to focus on each stage of the process as you work through it, and it can then provide a summary and help you draw conclusions about how and what you can do to help the subject or the empathy map. In this way, it takes us through understanding the person to finding practical ways we can help them.

It is certainly appealing to think that GenAI might save teachers time and reduce their mental burden. There are moments in every teacher’s day when they might not be feeling particularly inspired, imaginative or full of energy. At first glance, outsourcing tasks to GenAI makes good sense. However, if we look back to the history of technology then there are good reasons to be not quite so optimistic.

The Neurodiversity Smorgasbord is an attempt to offer an alternative to diagnostic categories as well as an opportunity to understand neurodiversity outside of the pathology paradigm. It’s about acknowledging these differences and experiences as a part of being human instead of being a mentally ill or disordered human.

As educators, learners, and leaders engage with AI, they must navigate both the technical aspects of AI tools and the ethical, cultural, and social implications of their use. AI literacies enable individuals to make informed decisions, adapt AI tools to different contexts, and ensure that applications of AI in academic settings are ethical and inclusive. The Dimensions of AI Literacies (presented below) offer a flexible and transformative lens for understanding teaching and learning practices in an AI-enabled world.

Let’s dream for a minute. Imagine a classroom where students are assessed and provided feedback as soon as they click “submit”; where students immediately receive information that allows them to understand where they land in their ability to communicate.
Compilation of Generative AI and Education studies that are most often cited by our team during training sessions. The speed at which developments are occurring is rapid and gaining momentum.

AI tools can undercut learning, true, but the real question is why would anyone choose to use them this way? We need to examine the motivating factors that drive people to want to take short cuts.

I know that students need radical patience, compassion, attention and curiosity, because that’s what I needed as a student in the classroom. In the end, “whatever was going on” with me is what kept me in the classroom and not out of it.

"In our recent study, we cooperated with Synthesia, a leading AI video platform. We ran a memory experiment and affective survey with around 500 people to see how four teaching formats differed. In addition to the AI-generated synthetic video versus human instructor-created video, the text was also included, composed by a human instructor and framed as AI generation separately."

When most people prompt generative AI, they do so within the paradigm of how they think about what could or should come next. For example, when searching Google, users may ask a question, search for the best Thai restaurant “near me,” or insert specific criteria based on filtered output, such as “best downhill mountain bike for intermediate riders.” That approach is often carried into prompting. The results build on a linear path of thinking, research, and decision-making based upon the world as we know it. However, where AI starts to “come alive” is when you create something unique — something that wouldn’t have been achieved without a human and machine collaboration.
The Manual of AI-Mediated Autonomous Teacher Development is your ultimate guide to using AI as a collaborative partner in your teaching journey. Written by Nik Peachey, an award-winning educator and expert in educational technology, this book takes you beyond generic AI-generated materials. Instead, it introduces collaborative prompting - a groundbreaking approach to professional growth through collaborative prompting - a method that transforms AI from a simple tool into an active mentor, guide, and thinking partner.
