After years of lobbying from the Italian government, a UN agency has now declared the country's cooking culture, as a whole, is a part of humanity's intangible cultural heritage. Gianfranco Junior Spagnolo, chef de cuisine at Vancouver restaurant Cantina di Luigi, says he's proud of the designation. Daniel Attoni, the restaurant's sous chef, says there is a need for the family to be more involved in cooking.
