One actor dropped his moustache, another dropped his lines. It doesn’t matter whether these were opening-night fumbles or thoroughly rehearsed comedy bits.

As Bryan Singer puts the finishing touches on X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, he's ready to start gearing up for his next big project, an adaptation of Jules Verne's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". The film was without a home at that time, but Deadline is reporting that Bryan Singer has now closed a deal with Twentieth Century Fox to direct the epic underwater adventure.

Christened the Spirit of Nemo, the doppelganger for Captain Nemo’s six-wheeled machine from The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen measures 24 feet (7.3 meters) in length and it’s 102 inches (2.59 meters) wide. The big numbers don't matter here because this thing tips the scales at more than 6,000 pounds (2,721 kilograms) and it is underpinned by two Cadillac Fleetwood limousines. Built from carbon fiber and fiberglass and reinforced with aluminum and steel, this street-legal (yes, street-legal) replicar is far from the typical kit car thanks to the elbow grease and the attention to detail that went into the making of this thing. There was a delectable selection on display in the RSL Lounge (University of Oxford's) on thursday 3 March for the Radcliffe Science Library’s first ever Edible Book Festival. But, what is an edible book ? Edible Books are art pieces composed of food that are « bookish », i.e. based on and represent a book title, a book cover, a character, a plot element or theme, or any other attribute or characteristic directly associated with a book, including its form. All entries will be exhibited, documented, then eaten ! Prizes will be awarded in a number of categories : most creative, most fun, most bookish, best reader entry, people’s choice. That year, De la terre a la lune (Jules Verne) is most bookish entry winner. Great !

Fortunately, themed establishments of the rare enjoyable kind are a real strongpoint of Charlie Gilkes’ and Duncan Stirlings’ Inception Group. The pair is behind the likes of ‘80s inspired nightclub Maggie’s, Brazilian-inspired Cocobananas, and Cahoots – a 1940s London Underground Station themed bar in Soho, and also behind Mr Fogg’s in Mayfair, which has become somewhat of a local stalwart. Following its success, a sister venue – Mr Fogg’s Tavern – was opened within theatre land between Covent Garden and Leicester Square at the tail end of last year. Unsurprisingly, given the venue’s names, Mr Fogg’s and Mr Fogg’s Tavern are both heavily inspired by the protagonist of Jules Verne’s classic ‘Around The World in 80 Days’. But while the original Mr Fogg’s bar in Mayfair works as a cocktail bar that’s based on the character’s central London residence, Mr Fogg’s Tavern is a slightly less formal, accessible Victorian Tavern-styled pub.
