This webinar covers how to restore confidence in project management. Many projects fail due to unrealistic promises, multitasking overload, and poor workflow management. To address these issues, we propose a three-level control system. - Portfolio management ensures the system is not overwhelmed with too many projects. - Critical Chain Project Management eliminates excessive safety margins by using a shared buffer, improving predictability. - Execution management uses Kanban and Agile techniques for efficiency. Goldratt's Rules of Flow, based on the business novel by Efrat Goldratt-Ashlag : Goldratt’s Rules Of Flow – The principles of the Goal applied to projects (2023).
8 rules are proposed in this book:
Rule 1: Avoid bad multitasking, control your WIP
Rule 2: If you don’t want to get stuck, verify full-kit before you get going
Rule 3: Triage to ensure you are working on the right priorities
Rule 4: Ensure synchronization between your tasks/people/resources
Rule 5: If you keep going back to the same projects and you don’t get the desired results, look into the option to increase the dosage
Rule 6: Avoid unnecessary rework by finding what causes it
Rule 7: Standardization is recommended when improvising is costly
Rule 8: Abolish local optimum, global optimum is what matters
In this novel, considered a sequel to the book Critical Chain written by her father Eliyahu Goldratt, Efrat Goldratt-Ashlag chooses to treat project management by taking a "flow" approach.[...]

The initial description of Critical Chain Project Management is over 25 years old. Her recent book published in January 2023 is the new introduction to the subject. It is the new first step to begin your Critical Chain journey.
The first part of this webinar tells the story of the origins of the Critical Chain. Efrat draws parallels between her father's book "Critical Chain" written in 1997, and her new book "Goldratt's Rules of Flow" published in January 2023. The second part is dedicated to multitasking and the bad effects of switching between projects. Then, she goes through "full kitting" and its benefits. The webinar ends with a question and answer session.
Be Fast or Be Gone is a business novel that explains how to implement Critical Chain Project Management and presents results achieved thanks to this methodology derived from Theory Of Constraints (TOC). In this book, in order to save his son's life, Mike Knight joins the company Altus Labs so the drug Supragel (medecine against cancer) goes from test I phase to test II phase in 6 months instead of 1 year. As a second step, his mission is to monitor the whole Albus Labs' projects portfolio and accelerate the development of all molecules.

Led by world expert Philip Marris, this course is designed to empower you with the knowledge and skills to excel in the realm of CCPM. During this training, you will delve into topics such as project scheduling, portfolio management, and the techniques specific to CCPM. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to hear directly from Marris Consulting clients through numerous testimonies and case studies. These real-world examples will showcase how organizations have successfully implemented Critical Chain Project Management and its positive impact on their projects. Learning from their mistakes and their tips and tricks applied in their environment will enhance your learning experience and enable you to apply the Critical Chain principles to your own environment/challenges.
Applying the "short 5 Focusing Steps" (steps 1, 2 and 5), Philip Marris describes how to increase the productivity and output of project portfolios. How to quickly increase the number of projects finished over time.
There are two dimensions of constraints in a project environment. The first one is the project constraint: it is the longest sequence of tasks also known as the Critical Chain. The second one is the portfolio constraint: somewhere in the organization there is a weak link, a bottleneck.
Presentation during the annual Critical Chain International conference in April 2023 by Frédéric Grehal, Vice-President and General Manager of Circor Aerospace & Defense. “Implementing Critical Chain to accelerate new products development in the aeronautical industry”.
[…] The project durations were reduced, and the projects finished on time. The efficiency and throughput of the New Product Development also increased. Following the success of the pilot projects, they then rolled out the Critical Chain Way on their entire portfolio. […] better managerial alignment, improved communication and better problem escalation […] provided Circor Aerospace & Defense with better, more challenging and more realistic, project schedules, and gave them much better visibility on the project’s progress.
Presentation by Etienne Lecerf, Marris Consulting: 3 levels of project control, the Critical Chain pyramid.
The Critical Chain method is often mentioned for its most recognized elements related to single-project management: identifying the longest task sequence, load levelling, buffer management, and using the fever chart.
However, two other levels of management practices should not be overlooked:
managing the entire project portfolio to reduce work-in-progress and multitasking structurally,
micro-level management involves handling daily tasks, identifying obstacles, and establishing a quick and effective feedback mechanism.
In this webinar, Philip Marris explains how to develop the products of tomorrow using the Critical Chain Project Management approach. He covers the theoretical approach of planning and managing a project the Critical Chain way.
