One -Third of Professors Use Social Media for Teaching. | BeBetter | Scoop.it

Nearly 34 percent of professors use social-media tools in the classroom, and the perception among faculty members that those resources take too much time to learn has dropped sharply in the last year, according to annual survey results released on Friday by Pearson and the Babson Research Survey Group.

The survey, of nearly 4,000 teaching professors, found that blogs and wikis were their most-preferred teaching tools, and nearly nine in 10 professors said they used online video in the classroom.

Catapult New Cool Crowdfunding Platform For Girls and Women | BeBetter | Scoop.it

Marty Note
From the life is serendipity department. I am writing about CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) today when a note comes across my prep school's Facebook page about Catapult, a new crowdfunding platform for girls and women created by Rob Kilgore (Choate '76).

The platform is WELL DONE and overdue. Give Rob feedback and let's make sure this much needed new venture succeeds.

Buy one give one video productions - Timbooktwo

We’ve seen “buy one, donate one” initiatives enable consumers to give everything from baby blankets to condoms to those in need through their purchase decisions. Now in Belgium, online video production company Timbooktwo have given the concept a B2B twist, producing a free video for a charitable organization each time they make one for a tourism company.

Working in teams of two — smaller than traditional travel film production crews — Timbooktwo are specialists in producing online travel videos, offering a complete service from pre to post production. Inspired by places visited on their travels, Timbooktwo wanted to give something back and make a positive difference, and so for every video they make for a tourism company, they donate their own time and money to produce one for a charity. In the same way online video can help increase sales, they hope footage of their chosen charity projects will encourage charitable donations.
