In an updated brief, KFF notes that kindergarten vaccination rates continue to decline as measles cases rise across the U.S.

For the 2025–2026 school year:

92.4% of kindergarteners were vaccinated against MMR and polio, and 92.0% against DTaP—down from 95% before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Approximately 280,000 kindergarteners were unvaccinated against measles.

39 states reported MMR vaccination rates below the 95% level needed to prevent community transmission.

The share of kindergarteners with an exemption from one or more required vaccines reached a record 4.2%, up from 2.5% in 2019–2020.

Twenty-four states reported exemption rates above 5%, making it impossible to reach 95% vaccination coverage even if all non-exempt children were vaccinated.

As state and federal vaccination policies evolve, changes to recommendations and school-entry requirements could create additional confusion for families and further affect childhood vaccination rates.

After writing the book "The War on Informed Consent", which details a study by Dr. Paul Thomas showing how his completely unvaccinated patients were the healthiest children in his practice, the study was retracted.

A retraction is always cited by opponents of the right to informed consent as proof that the study was junk.

The AI answer engines are not immune to this fallacy and might tell you something like this: "the journal retracted the paper in July 2021 after an investigation found methodological issues and concluded that its claims were not supported by strong scientific data."

The AI just ASSUMES that because the journal editors claimed that there were "methodological issues" that invalidated its findings, that therefore there were.

There weren't.

FACT: The journal editors did not identify any methodological flaws in the paper. They just proclaimed the existence of such as an excuse for their cowardly retraction.

What does the DTaP vaccine prevent—and what doesn’t it prevent?

Tetanus is not contagious, so the DTaP vaccine has no effect on its transmission. It also does not prevent asymptomatic infection or the spread of diphtheria or pertussis.
