"It is important for medical professionals to express how much they care, not just how much they know. The anti-vaccine community has showed staying power because it serves as a home for people who feel neglected or dismissed by conventional medicine. Doctors could do more to make patients, whose experience of the health care system is often that it is convoluted, callous and expensive, feel welcome"

In a current survey, 83% say that the MMR vaccine is effective, down from 87% in 2022. Respondents similarly report significant declines in the perceived effectiveness of the vaccines against other diseases over the same time period.

This will prove extremely painful for McCullough Foundation as well as Dr Philip McMillan who were pushing misinformation around thromboembolic risk they were trying to link to COVID vaccines. Well, the data here presented shows otherwise. And vaccines do not increase such risk, but reduces it by 25%…
Impact of Vaccination:
In 1,619 hospitalized patients after vaccine availability (962 vaccinated), vaccination was associated with a reduction in cardiovascular events (adjusted HR: 0.75; 95% CI: 0.62–0.92; P=0.005). There was no significant association with thrombotic events (HR: 0.94; 95% CI: 0.79–1.11). Post hoc analysis: ≥2 doses further reduced cardiovascular risk vs. no
Conclusions
Thrombotic and cardiovascular events remain common in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 (especially in ICUs), with low rates in outpatient settings. There has been no persistent decline throughout the pandemic, despite initial improvements. Vaccination reduces cardiovascular risk by about 25% (HR 0.75), highlighting its importance. The authors recommend continuous clinical monitoring for complications in hospitalized patients, even with population declines in hospitalizations and mortality. This reinforces the need for preventive strategies, such as vaccination and appropriate anticoagulation.

Anecdotes vs science. While Dr Philip McMillan depends on the first to create misinformation, the second shows that COVID has no incidence in increase cancer risks. Maybe for Xmas, we should have asked that such misinformation from the guy would pulled out of LinkedIn … Imagination is not science. And his claims are not what the science is showing us. There is no turbo-cancers related to COVID. NONE…

Routine Immunization System doesn’t fail suddenly.
It weakens quietly; through last-mile delivery gaps, data that hides zero-dose children, underfunded outreaches, fragile cold chain system, and exhausted health workers stretched beyond their capacity.
By the time outbreaks occur, the strain has been there for longer period. Prevention erodes silently before failure becomes visible.
Let's strengthen RI before the crisis by investing in systems, data, and frontline workers where the risk is highest.

💥 New WorldPop preprint led by Natalia Tejedor Garavito on the estimation of geographic access to healthcare services for unvaccinated children: https://lnkd.in/ebZMDPux
💉 Geographic access to healthcare is a key factor in childhood vaccine uptake, but global comparative studies at the subnational level are rare, limiting our understanding of local vaccination behaviours and dynamics. 🌍 By combining geospatial datasets, we estimated, mapped and analysed the number and distribution of DTP1 zero-dose children and their geographic access to healthcare through walking and motorized transport across 99 low and middle-income countries. 🏬 Among the estimated 15.7 million zero-dose children across the study countries, 39% lived more than one hour’s walk from a health facility in 2021, with Afghanistan (84%), Papua New Guinea (83%), Sudan (81%), and Cambodia (78%) showing the highest proportions. However, the majority of zero-dose children lived within 30 minutes motorized transport of a health facility, indicating that proximity alone does not ensure vaccine uptake, with non-geographic barriers contributing to persistent zero-dose status. 🚑 The findings highlight where tailored interventions such as outreach services, mobile clinics or new facility placement may be required for locations that are difficult to reach. Addressing both geographic and non-geographic barriers will help ensure that the children most in need are reached, reducing vaccination gaps and improving equitable access to essential healthcare.

In our article today, Ted Kennedy Jr. and I discuss Secretary Kennedy's ongoing dismantling of his family's legacy in promoting vaccine access. Specifically, we discuss his plans to undermine the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, a program that strikes a balance - compensating the vaccine injured in exchange for liability protections so that manufacturers stay in the market and make vaccines to protect public health.
Below is a list of laws sponsored by, voted for and signed into law by Kennedys.

"I ask myself that question a lot, how did we get here? Because I think when I was doing my infectious disease training, there were anti vaccination groups, but they seemed very sort of fringe. It was not a mainstream thing," explained Natasha Bagdasarian, Chief Medical Executive for the State of Michigan.

An excellent reminder from Sarah Despres that removing school mandates can have real, serious costs.
"When contemplating changes to vaccine policy, political leaders should take into account the health and economic implications. Ladapo did not. He acknowledged that his office had not modeled disease outcomes before announcing his new policy. His announcement came against a backdrop of an increase in whooping cough cases in Florida, which are up 81% over last year, not to mention a spate of measles outbreaks nationwide. Ladapo demonstrates a lack of concern about the health of the Floridians he was hired to protect.
Amid reports that the federal government plans to dramatically reduce the childhood vaccination schedule, more states may follow Florida’s lead. Other policymakers should not be so cavalier if they are going to re-evaluate vaccine requirements. Here are four questions all policymakers, regardless of whether they are supportive of vaccines, should be prepared to answer if they are considering changing vaccine requirements.
1. Will the new policy lead to decreasing immunization rates and increasing vaccine-preventable illness?
To date, no state has ever completely eliminated vaccine requirements, so there is no research on the effects of elimination of requirements on disease rates. Policymakers, however, can look to the research on changes to exemption policies, which have shown that tightening those policies did lead to an increase in immunization uptake. They can also look to research that has shown that areas with greater numbers of exemptions to vaccine requirements do see more disease. Right now we are witnessing a growing measles outbreak in South Carolina, a state that has seen a marked increase in vaccine requirement exemptions over the last 10 years."
