Trudy Herbert's curator insight, May 19, 2013 4:37 AM

This is an interesting chapter that I re-scooped thanks to Carmenne (see comments below). It looks at impact of inquiry and collaboration via Web 2.0. I like the quote re Web 2.0 attitude

"This Web 2.0 attitude revolves not so much around the individual as it does around the individual as an integral part of the collective whole."

Isn't this what the collaborative classroom is all about? Learning together! As a mature student teacher I think it is wonderful how the Draft Aust. Technologies Curriculum (2013) has included collaboration via digital technologies (Web 2.0 tools) as it develops not only the student's design and technology skills but also their 'Web 2.0 attitude'.

Carmenne Kalyaniwala's comment, May 19, 2013 5:06 AM
Yeah Trudy, this truly is an interesting chapter, published in 2009 by the CALICO Journal. Here's the link to the reference of the book: https://www.calico.org/page.php?id=430

Les compétences informationnelles relatives au Web des futurs enseignants québécois et leur préparation à les enseigner : résultats d’une enquête

Via Priscille
Priscille's curator insight, April 12, 2013 3:41 AM

Connectivism is one of my favorite learning theory to use in the classroom. As a  Career and Technology teacher we use technology and connectivity theory allows the students to discuss to various platforms to discuss and find answers on their own.  With this infographic it explain the different learning theories and connectivism, a theory that at least you have to try to implement for student engagement.

A Monitoring and Evaluation Scheme for an ICT-Supported Education Program in Schools

More than 20 years after ICTs were introduced in schools, solid evidence of their impact on student attainment is still lacking. Reasons for this include the mismatch between the methods used to measure the effects and the type of learning promoted, the absence of information regarding the specific types of ICT used, and the scarce attention paid to the monitoring and evaluation of ICT for Education (ICT4E) programs.
