Tim's Laptop Service Manuals

Tim's Laptop Service Manuals | WinTechSolutions | Scoop.it

http://tim.id.au/blog/tims-laptop-service-manuals/

In the same vein as in my driver guide, I’ve started finding laptop service manuals and hosting them on my site. These are the professional, official documents published by the various laptop makers, either for their own technicians or for the use of the general public.

They generally detail the exact list of parts in each model of laptop – often down to individual screws, if you happen to have lost some and need to know the exact size for a replacement – and describe the procedure for disassembling and reassembling the entire machine, including panels, RAM, wireless cards, keyboards and touchpads and LCD screens, all the way down to the motherboard itself.

They’re difficult to find – you have to know where to look in their support site, or come up with the right Google search string, or beg and steal from someone you know in the industry. There are blogs and forums that post small numbers of these manuals every now and then; what I hope to achieve here is the most complete repository of laptop disassembly and service manuals available on the internet.

This page, and indeed my whole site, has no ads. I do not charge for downloads. This is not a community-run project where some files turn out to be incomplete, or the plain old user manual you already have, or completely the wrong thing. I do not hide files behind pages designed to confuse and delay you under the guise of providing a difficult service. I do not hotlink manuals on other sites – everything’s hosted in the same place as this page.

Every single file linked from here has been carefully handpicked, verified, sorted and uploaded by myself to make sure this page is as complete and accurate as humanly possible. Basically, click on the model number of your laptop below, and you’ll have all the information you need on how to take it apart.

Linux Distributions

Linux Distributions | WinTechSolutions | Scoop.it
Page with information on Linux Distributions for Newbies, Experts, PowerPC, Floppy Disk, Live-CDs, Rescue-CDs, Linux Isos and Embedded Linux.

Repairlix - is a networked Linux distribution/bootable system intended to fit in 12MB of media - so small that an image can be burned onto a business-card-sized shaped CDROM, suitable for your wallet. It has a suite of utilities for doing system recovery.

SuperRescue - is a single very large bootable system-on-a-disk. It's based on the observation that the vast majority of systems allow you to do so much more than the minimal system. Therefore it provides a much nicer rescue environment than your average rescue floppy.

SystemRescueCd - is a linux system on a bootable cdrom for repairing your system and your data after a crash. It also aims to provide an easy way to carry out admin tasks on your computer, such as creating and editing the partitions of the hard disk. It contains a lot of system utilities (parted, partimage, fstools, ...) and basic ones (editors, midnight commander, network tools). It aims to be very easy to use: just boot from the cdrom, and you can do everything.

Livrescue - is a small Linux rescue CD. It lies somewhere between minimalist boot floppies and large full-featured rescue CDs.

ILUG BBC - Irish Linux Users Group (ILUG) Bootable Business Card (BBC).

Lubbock - is a Linux distro based on Linuxcare Bootable Business Card. This is a emergency tool with many uses.

Timo's Rescue CD Set - is an approach for an easy way to generate a rescue system on a bootable cd, which can easily be adapted to the own needs.

MiniKnoppix - has a lot of tools for system administration (backup/restore, filesystem check/creation, security, network testing, and more!).

RIP (Rescue is Possible) - This rescue distro comes in both a floppy version and a bootable CD version.

Trinity Rescue Kit - is designed to rescue/ repair/ prepare dead or damaged systems, be it Linux or Windows.

LinuxDefender - is a BitDefender re-mastered Knoppix. It was designed to provide users of both Windows and Linux computers with virus incident rescue tools.

Feather Linux Console Edition - is an edition of Feather Linux designed for rescuing corrupted or crashed systems, while still being smaller than 50Mb.

Emergency CD - is a (console) Live CD version for emergency and rescue your system.

INSERT - (Inside Security Rescue Toolkit) comes with a graphical user interface running the fluxbox window manager while still being sufficiently small to fit on a credit card-sized CD-ROM.

BG-Rescue Linux - This is a very small Linux distribution that fits on either two floppy disks or one eltorito-boot cd. You need at least a 386 machine with 16 mb ram to run BG-Rescue Linux.

Operator - is a Debian based Live-CD. The Operator contains an extensive set of Open Source network security tools that can be used for monitoring and discovering networks. Operator also contains a set of computer forensic and data recovery tools that can be used to assist you in data retrieval on the local system.

Parted Magic - employs core programs of GParted and Parted to handle partitioning tasks with ease, while featuring other useful programs (e.g. Partition Image, TestDisk, Truecrypt, Clonezilla, G4L, SuperGrubDisk, ddrescue, etc...) and an excellent set of documentation to benefit the user. An extensive collection of file system tools are also included, as Parted Magic supports the following: ext2, ext3, ext4, fat16, fat32, hfs, hfs+, jfs, linux-swap, ntfs, reiserfs, reiser4, and xfs. Parted Magic requires at least a i586 processor and 256MB of RAM to operate or 128MB in "Live" mode.

Is my PC running the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows?

Is my PC running the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows? | WinTechSolutions | Scoop.it
Find out if your PC is running the 32 or 64-bit version of Windows and what edition you're running.

The terms 32-bit and 64-bit refer to the way a computer's processor (also called a CPU), handles information. The 64-bit version of Windows handles large amounts of random access memory (RAM) more effectively than the 32-bit version. Follow the steps in the sections below to find out if your PC is running the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows and what edition of Windows is on your PC.

Computers running Windows XP

Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

If "x64 Edition" is listed under System, you’re running the 64-bit version of Windows XP.

If you don’t see "x64 Edition" listed under System, you’re running the 32-bit version of Windows XP.

The edition of Windows XP you're running is displayed under System near the top of the window.

Computers running Windows Vista or Windows 7

Click the Start button , right-click Computer, and then click Properties.

If "64-bit Operating System" is listed next to System type, you’re running the 64-bit version of Windows Vista or Windows 7.

If "32-bit Operating System" is listed next to System type, you’re running the 32-bit version of Windows Vista or Windows 7.

The edition of Windows Vista or Windows 7 you're running is displayed under Windows edition near the top of the window.

Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River « My Digital Life

With the release of Windows 7 SP1, Microsoft has also updated the Windows 7 DVD media ISO image distributed by Digital River for online order fulfillment. Digital River is Microsoft’s partner for fulfillment on online distribution for downloadable Microsoft products.

The Windows 7 ISO images hosted on Digital River is genuine and official version, and the downloads from the server is legal. It’s after all one of the official channel where end-users who purchase a license (product key) for Windows 7 get the setup installation files.

Anyway, without a genuine and legally purchased product key, you can’t get Windows 7 activated, and Windows 7 will only run as evaluation copy for up to 30 days.

The latest version of Windows 7 DVD image available is of media refresh version, which commonly known as Windows 7 SP1-U (Media Refresh). Microsoft released the media refresh version of Windows 7 DVD media to fix a rare bug related to invalid computer name when small set of computer names returned error when used to install Windows 7. Otherwise, the Windows 7 with SP1 and Windows 7 with SP1-U (Media Refresh) is completely the same.

How to Solve “Cannot Copy the Path is Too Deep” with My USB Drive

How to Solve “Cannot Copy the Path is Too Deep” with My USB Drive | WinTechSolutions | Scoop.it
If the error “Cannot Copy the Path is Too Deep” is displayed while a USB drive is being used, it is possible that there is a problem accessing the data on the drive. This is not an uncommon problem and it occurs especially when a USB ...

Cable or Connection is the Cause

How the USB drive is connected to the computer may also cause this problem.

USB Hubs as the path too deep culprit are common and can possibly be caused by:

The Hub firmware interfering with the USB deviceThe reduced power that the Hub gives to the connected USB devices

Four options that may resolve the issue:

Remove the USB drive and reconnect it to ensure that the drive did not go to sleep or time out. This is an issue especially with portable hard disks that the USB port powers. This may help to fix the problem if the error was reporting incorrectly due to the drive sleep issues.

Second, simply remove the hub and connect the USB drive directly to the USB port to access the drive. This will prevent the USB hub from interfering with the communication between the USB drive and the computer system.

Third, update the firmware from theUSB hub device from the manufacturer’s website to remedy the issue. This may not be available for all USB hub devices.

Fourth, move the USB drive to a USB port on the back of the computer (PC Tower). These are connected directly to the motherboard and are accessed in a different way than ports located elsewhere on the computer. Similarly, laptop/notebook PCs may have USB ports that are designed into the motherboard and others that are routed via alternative methods (such as notebook cards or different locations on the computer not directly connected to the motherboard).

Hardware is the Cause

When the issue occurs with removable media used in USB adapters such as SD cards, MMC, and other types of Non-Volatile flash memory chips, the problem may be in the memory cards themselves. Such memory cards wear out over time and the memory can become corrupt. This can also occur in flash memory USB drives as well when they have reached their use limits.

If hardware failure is the cause, it is possible to still be able to access the files and copy them to a new location by either:

Upgrading the USB devices’ firmware or upgrading the computer system’s BIOS. To update the device’s firmware, check with the manufacturer and download and install any applicable firmware updates. The BIOS update will also require knowing the computer motherboard’s manufacturer and locating the appropriate and most up to date BIOS update to use with the system.

Advanced SystemCare

Advanced SystemCare | WinTechSolutions | Scoop.it

All it takes it a single visit to a compromised Web site to snare a nasty piece of malware or to pick up cookies that track your every browsing move. And there's nothing worse than a computer that is bogged down so much that it impedes your ability to work or play games. Advanced Systemcare aims to remedy whatever ails your computer by not only cleaning up junk files, malware, and invalid registry entries, but by giving your computer a boost to optimize your PC experience.

Advanced Systemcare's interface is broken down into four maintenance categories so as to not overwhelm you:

Quick Care,

Deep Care,

Toolbox, and

Turbo Boost.

We started with Quick Care and with the Quick Malware Removal feature. We clicked Scan and the program quickly went to work and came back with no issues. (In all fairness, we regularly run full PC scans using our own security software, so we didn't expect the program to find anything here.) Next up to bat was the Registry Fix, which came back with a whopping 597 problems. We found this a little fishy since we had just tested a very reputable registry cleaner that had found and fixed all of our registry issues. Still, we went through the process of checking and unchecking which files we wanted the program to fix. Once we clicked the Repair Now option, the program went to work and the problem registry entries were remedied in a matter of seconds. The Deep Care feature takes it all a step further by offering deeper scans, as well as a Registry Defrag option, which we successfully used to tidy up our registry. We were a little miffed that the program didn't ask us if we wanted to back up our registry before making any changes.

However, we'll give it a slight pass because the program does include a Rescue feature that lets you undo any registry changes, and offers the ability to create a restore point, which we recommend you do before you touch your registry. Our final stop on the tour was the Turbo Boost feature. From there, we selected Work Mode, which let us manually disable unnecessary services and background applications. We were skeptical of it actually doing anything to speed up our computer, but we have to admit that we did notice a slight difference in our computer's speed, and for the better. The program does include an online help guide, though we don't think you'll need it for handling basic cleaning tasks.

Pay close attention while installing Advanced Systemcare because it'll install an IObit toolbar if you don't decline. The program also leaves a folder behind after uninstallation. Still, we recommend it as a worthwhile program for keeping your system running on all cylinders.

A Windows 8 Cheat Sheet

A Windows 8 Cheat Sheet | WinTechSolutions | Scoop.it
If you install Windows 8, you'll have to learn both environments, like it or not; you can't live in just one environment or the other. So how are you supposed to operate it if you have a nontouch computer?

Open the Start screen. The colorful rectangular tiles that make up the new Start screen are easy to reach.

Touch screen: Swipe your finger into the screen from the right border to make the Charms panel appear (described next); tap Start.

Mouse: Point to the lower-left corner of the screen; when the Start screen icon appears, click.

Keyboard: Press the Windows key.

Many new tablets and laptops have a dedicated Windows-logo button under the screen. Pressing it also opens the Start screen.

Open the Charms panel. The Charms menu is a thin vertical panel of important icons like Search, Share, Start and Settings.

Touch screen: Swipe your finger into the screen from the right border.

Mouse: Point to the top right corner of the screen.

Keyboard: Press the Windows key+C.

You can also jump directly to one of the buttons on the Charms panel.

Share button: Windows+H

Settings button: Windows+I

Devices button: Windows + K

Open the App menu. Programs designed for TileWorld often have a few options, represented as icons in a hidden horizontal bar. In Internet Explorer, for example, this bar shows all your open browser tabs.

Touch screen: Swipe into the screen a short distance from the top or bottom of the screen.

Mouse: Right click anywhere in the window.

Keyboard: Press the Windows key+Z.

Windows Easy Transfer - Windows 7

Windows Easy Transfer - Windows 7 | WinTechSolutions | Scoop.it
Check out the improvements to Windows Easy Transfer in Windows 7, and take the hassle out of migrating your files to a new PC.

When you're switching to a new PC, Windows Easy Transfer helps you transfer your files, email, pictures, and settings. In Windows 7, it lives up to the "easy" in its name.

You told us previous versions of Windows Easy Transfer were hard to figure out or stalled before the job was done. So we redesigned it to be more reliable and more helpful. It now includes a file explorer so you can easily choose exactly which files to copy to your new PC. And if Windows finds a file or setting it can't work with, your transfer won't hang up—it will finish and give you a full report of anything that didn't migrate.

If your old PC isn't running Windows 7, you'll need to install the appropriate version of Windows Easy Transfer. Is my old PC running 32‑bit or 64‑bit Windows?

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums | WinTechSolutions | Scoop.it
How to Clean Reinstall a Factory OEM Windows 7...

1. Download the latest official Win7 installer ISO with SP1 for your licensed version.

2. Burn ISO to DVD or write to USB flash stick (minimum size of 4GB required) using Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool.

3. Back up your files externally by dragging your named User account or active User folders to another HD, external drive, flash stick or disk. Don't forget to export your browser bookmarks first. If your email is stored on computer, Google how to back up mail and account settings. Backup Quickbooks 2010+ Company files from User/Public/Documents, google your version's file location, or run a QB backup. De-authorize I-Tunes.
• For unbootable Windows copy data out externally using free Paragon rescue disk or Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console.

4. Make your Recovery Disks so you have a path back to factory condition, following the steps given in your PC's setup literature or in the Manual located on the Support Downloads webpage for your model computer. As an alternative to Recovery Disks you can save a Windows 7 Backup Image or Macrium Image of the entire HD.
• In addition to Recovery Disks some OEM Backup and Recovery options include making a drivers disk to have as an additional backup to the latest drivers on the model's Support Downloads webpage.

5. Run an audit of hardware and software including installed Product Keys using Belarc Advisor.

6. Write down the Product Key from COA sticker located on back or side of PC tower, bottom or under battery of notebook. Make sure you get the characters correct as this is a main cause of activation failure. You can input or Skip the key during install then afterwards activate at Control Panel>System, which may require a quick robocall. The COA sticker looks like this:

7. Gather your program installers. For those lacking disks, you may find them on the program's Support Downloads webpage. Favorite pre-installed apps may be found on the Downloads webpage for your model computer or manufacturer-provided Apps Disk. Others may be found by googling. Some pre-installed apps may not be available for clean reinstall - HP owners see additional note below.

● Many of the favorite apps needed and desired for reinstall are available in the terrific app Ninite - Install or Update Multiple Apps at Once.

8. Unplug all other HD's and peripherals, Boot the Windows 7 installer, choose Custom Install, then Drive Options (Advanced) to Delete all partitions not needed, repartition as desired following illustrated steps given here: Clean Install Windows 7.
● If you have a Recovery or OEM tools partition, these may not run after clean reinstall so be sure to make your Recovery Disks.
● You can wait until afterwards to see if Recovery or (Diagnostics) Tools partitions will run from boot to decide if you want to delete those partitions and recover the space into C or elsewhere (using Step 3 here).
● If you don't want to keep any partitions but also don't have a new partition scheme in mind, just click Next after Deleting all to let the installer create and format your installation partition for you.
● Until Windows 7 installer is updated with USB3 drivers use a USB2 port for flash install or load the USB3 driver from the PC's Support Downloads webpage when prompted during install. If you're prompted for drivers for any other reason during install it almost always means a bad installer.

9. The installer is mostly driver-complete, with newer arriving quickly via optional Windows Updates. Just in case, have your Wireless or Ethernet LAN driver on flash stick or CD so you can install it to get online quickly - these can be found on the Support Downloads webpage for your model computer . Then enable hardware driver auto-updating, install all Important and Optional Updates.

10. Any drivers still missing in Device Manager after several rounds of Updates can be found on the Support Downloads webpage for your model computer or device, along with possibly needed hotfixes which you can also wait to see if you need. Driver Install - Device Manager

I would not replace any drivers given by the installer or optional Updates unless performance problems point to that specfic driver. We can help you troubleshoot these issues.

• Unknown Devices are often SID card readers, may be revealed by a function still missing on the PC such as laptop function keys or keyboard lighting, or can be traced using Hardware Identification.
• Co-processor, USB and Storage controllers are often elements of the chipset.

11. Install programs slowly over time to gauge performance changes after each. You can roll back most any Program installs or Update(s) using System Restore.

12. Don't let any programs write themselves into msconfig>Startup as they slow startup, become freeloaders on your RAM/CPU and can spy on you.

● As illustrated in Startup Programs - Change uncheck everything except AV, gadgets (aka "sidebar"), Sync program in msconfig>Startup.

● Then after reboots do the same in msconfig>Services after checking "Hide All MS Services."

● Check back with both lists periodically to see if anything writes itself back in and turn it off in its Program Preferences or Uninstall the freeloader.

● If you have any questions about a listing, Google it to learn what it does.

● However I would not install Google programs which are relentless spyware. Only use the stable Google search box in IE9 or Firefox and don't stay signed into any Google web apps.

● You can greatly diminish spying and reduce tracking ads - periodically Opt Out of Network Advertising.

13. Use a lightweight free AV like Microsoft Security Essentials which works perfectly with the Windows 7 Firewall. If you're prone to infection add the paid real-time protection for Malwarebytes, otherwise run its excellent free scanner monthly.

14. To copy your files into the new install, open the storage folder, open each User folder (Documents, Pictures, etc.), from the Organize tab Select All, then drag the group to the corresponding folder on Explorer bar at left. Wait until the bar stops unfolding and hypertext confirms the copy location before releasing the left click. Do not copy over hidden AppData folders from User Accounts as these are a corruption path.

● The User's Favorites folder will populate IE Bookmarks. Import another browser's Bookmarks from HTML file backed up previously. Copy Quickbooks and other Program data into it's default folder location.

15. Activation at Control Panel>System may require a robocall to MS the first time to record your hardware signature in their servers. It will always work as long as you install the correct version and input the key accurately.

16. When finished, clean and order the HD perfectly using state-of-the-art free CCleaner "Run Cleaner" button and Registry tab. I recommend Puran free boot-time defragger + Full Disk Check after checking Intelligent Optimizer on Additional Operations tab for state-of-the-art defrag which includes System Files. Periodically run these as well as a full scan with free Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware.
● Avoid spyware tracking cookies placing interest ads by Opting Out of Network Advertising.

17. Finally, save a Windows 7 Backup image to external or another internal HD so you never have to reinstall again - just do a System Image Recovery to the HD or it's replacement from booted DVD/Repair CD with the stored image.

● You can keep your User folders backed up to the cloud, sync'd to your other devices, even accessed on the web using Skydrive free 7gb of storage with each Windows Live ID: Sync Any Folder to Your SkyDrive Account

18. Henceforth if required to contact your OEM Tech Support do not tell them you Clean Reinstalled but troubleshoot as if you have the factory install. Otherwise OEM's may refuse to support Clean Reinstall but cannot void Hardware warranty. If you ship the unit back for repair under Hardware warranty save a Windows 7 backup image and then run Factory Recovery beforehand.

System restoration disks are important to have on hand should you ever need to restore your computer to its original state. Sony Vaio computers do not come with restoration disks. However, Vaio computers are equipped with the capability to create restoration disks using the computer's DVD drive. The system-restoration disk-creation utility will create restoration disks that are specifically designed for the computer.

4]  Select "Choose a program."

5]  Click "Create Recovery Discs" and then click "Start."

6]  Click "Next" on the "When recovery discs are needed" window.

7]  Click "Next" on the "Choose your media" window.

8]  Place a blank, recordable DVD into the computer's DVD drive.

9]  Click "OK" on the "Insert a blank disc" window.

How to master VLC, the ultimate Windows media player for power users | PCWorld

How to master VLC, the ultimate Windows media player for power users | PCWorld | WinTechSolutions | Scoop.it
VideoLAN's free media player can stream files to and from the Internet, manage podcasts, capture webcam videos and yes, even play Blu-ray. Here's how you can get started with VLC.

Let's just rip off the Band-Aid and get the bad news out of the way: The standard version of Windows 8 won't include Windows Media Center or the ability to play DVDs by default.

Wait! Put down those pitchforks, home theater PC enthusiasts. Microsoft's ill will toward media support and optical discs is really an opportunity in disguise. Now you have every reason to check out VideoLAN's VLC media player, a versatile app that does much, much more than Windows' baked-in alternative. VLC streams files from the Internet, streams files to the Internet, manages podcasts, captures webcam videos and, yes, plays DVDs. Blu-rays, too. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Simply put, VLC is the power user's media player of choice.

Unfortunately, VLC's deep array of powerful options can also be a bit intimidating at first glance. What do all those buttons and menus actually do? This guide will catch you up to speed on the basics, show you how to watch your favorite movies and Internet streams, and then close with some fun tips and tricks to help you get the most out of this free VLC player.

More than just a DVD player

DVDs aren't the only physical discs that VLC can read: standard audio CDs, VCDs and SVCDs all play without a hitch as well. Experimental Blu-ray disc support was added early in 2012, but the Blu-ray encryption system can make that experimental playback more miss than hit. If VLC refuses to play your favorite HD disc, installing these hush-hush files (at your own risk!) should help for older Blu-rays with AACS encryption, or you could rip the movie to your hard drive using MakeMKV (more on that later) and watch it as you would any video file in VLC, by selecting Media > Open File.

Test RAM | The Joys of PC Ownership

Test RAM | The Joys of PC Ownership | WinTechSolutions | Scoop.it
Crashes, lock-ups, blue screens of death and a surprise...

Memtest86+

If you’ve been getting random crashes, other weird behavior, or if you just got a new PC and want to check if the RAM is kosher, download Memtest86.

On a PC expert scale of 1-10 (where 1 is installing new drivers and 10 is replacing your motherboard), I’d place Memtest86 around a 5. You need to download the program and either burn it to a CD, or (as I did), install it on a USB thumb drive. You’ll need to figure out how to get your computer to boot from this new CD or thumb drive. As your computer starts up, some will check to see if there’s something in the CD/USB that they should load before Windows, but others don’t. In the latter case, you may need to get into your bios and tell it to boot to the CD or USB. With my bios, I needed to press F12 to bring up a boot order screen, then select USB.

Memtest runs automatically once the computer loads it. It looks like a DOS program, and does an escalating series of tests on all your RAM. A full sweep depends on how much RAM you have, but it might take upwards of an hour. Let it run, though, as the early, basic tests didn’t reveal any issues with my RAM, but the more difficult tests showed all sorts of issues.

And if there are issues, Memtest doesn’t make it easy to figure out which stick is bad. If you’re watching the software run (and it is mildly hypnotic, like watching a hard drive defrag program), you can see what stick it’s testing when the errors pop.

To be safe, ESC out of the program, power down your PC, and remove the stick of RAM you think might be bad. If necessary, move the other RAM over so they’re all next to each other (the motherboard might not recognize all the sticks otherwise). Now run the test again. Trial and error may be necessary.

To keep track of what RAM was what, I put numbered Post-it notes on the top of the case, and left the sticks on the numbers where they were in my original installation. In other words, #3 stick always went back on the #3 Post-it, even after I tried it in the #2 slot.

Microsoft no longer accepts long passwords, shortens them for you [Updated]

Microsoft no longer accepts long passwords, shortens them for you [Updated] | WinTechSolutions | Scoop.it

Microsoft doesn't like long passwords. In fact, the software giant not only won't let you use a really long one in Hotmail, but the company recently started prompting users to only ...

Let me rephrase that: if you have a password that has more than 16 characters, it will no longer work. Microsoft is making your life easier! You no longer have to input your whole password! Just put in the first 16 characters!

When Outlook.com launched some two months ago, it limited passwords to 16 characters in length. Sophos posted an excellent password length comparison between Outlook.com (16 characters), Yahoo (32 characters), and Gmail (200+ characters). Today’s story is about Microsoft apparently limiting Hotmail password lengths from their previous to length, to no loner than 16 characters.
