Via Carlos Lopez Ardao
"Here is another graphic visual on Twitter for teachers and students. As you can see the graphic is pretty basic and features the core elements of Twitter practices teachers and students should keep in mind in order to better tap into the educational potential of this microblogging platform. Don't forget we are in a Connected Educator month and Twitter is one of the best social networking platform out there to help you build your personal/professional learning network and grow professionally."
In a few days, I will participate to a panel discussion in Montréal, chaired by Marin Dacos, entitled “Minor forms of academic communication: revamping the relationship between science and society?“, at the World Social Science Forum. I do not have much expertise (compared with colleagues involved in the panel) even if I frequently observe the community of academic bloggers, and I regularly interact with some of them. For this panel discussion, Marin asked me to share my experience, as an academic blogger. So, let’s try to describe the Freakonometrics adventure… The origins: why and how the blog started? The practice: how do I blog? The future: why is it still worth blogging, in academia? Lots of great information addressing access to and use of technology by children!
Universities are developing analytics curricula to educate future data professionals, with help from IBM and other partners.
I did something similar to this when I worked at the day care. In Sunday School my kids all made a "Thankful Chain". We started at the end of October, and made a chain out of orange, yellow and brown construction paoer strips. |

There are hundreds of video sites perfect for your classroom. They wouldn't exist without useful videos. Therefore, it's safe to say that video is playing a big role in the lives of today's students. Via Ken Morrison

This is a wonderful initiative for teachers to connect online. VC's on WizIQ are excellent.
Most learning does not happen in a classroom or online. It happens informally, between employees and peer groups. Leaders can promote this activity and track it to increase development and facilitate talent management. Via Edumorfosis
Ben Balter argues that open data today is exactly where open source was some two decades ago, and wants to see if it's possible to fast forward the community a bit. Imagine if every time the government posted a dataset, rather than posting the data as a zip file or to a proprietary data portal, the agency treated the data as open source.
